I could barely breathe.
Clinging to Billy, protectively pushing him behind me, staring at the man cruelly smirking in front of us...
I had never been so scared.
The man stepped forward in a predatory manner, causing me to instinctively step away. The man chuckled, making a slight tsking noise with his tongue.
"Darling don't be frightened, I just want to..." He paused, his eyes trailing over our bodies with a disturbing glint. "Talk." The word held danger, doing nothing to ease my rapidly rising nerves.
"N-no thanks. We a-aren't very good at talking." Billy stuttered meekly, clearly too scared to think clearly. The man simply smirked, cracking his knuckles in a threatening manner.
"It's ok, I am." He stated, taking another step forward. In panic I turned, pulling Billy with me as I broke out into a run.
We moved about five steps before another body exited the shadows, just as muscular and intimidating looking as the other man.
"Leaving already? We just started!" The new man exclaimed, his voice raspy, revealing his clear addiction to smoking. "Do you really want to miss out on the fun?"
We were trapped, stuck between two monsters with no way out.
We were hopeless.

***COLLIN***
"Dude can you please walk faster? You're acting like a fucking pansy." Dane complained gruffly as we walked through the streets. I rolled my eyes, not even attempting to move faster as I hobbled behind him.
"I just got beat up... I can barely fucking pee let alone walk fast." I retorted making him chuckle. Briefly, I pulled my phone out of my pocket, checking the time.
11:05.
Noticing the number flashing across my phone screen, Dane cursed, walking even faster.
"I'm late, your father is going to kill me." He grumbled, making me seriously nod.
"You're right he will kill you, he is an evil asshole." Immediately, the atmosphere became more serious, as he clenched his fists and glared at the ground.
However he surprised me with what he said next.
"He still wants you in his gang you know." Dane stated darkly, making anger immediately hit me. But I pretended to unaffected, forcing out a chuckle and shaking my head.
"Not after he sees me like this." I motioned to my bruised body. "I'll be lucky if he doesn't kick me out for being such a pussy." Dane didn't laugh, clearly unamused.
"I'm serious. He always talks about how his son is going to continue his legacy, take over the family business-"
"What killing, stealing and dealing drugs?" I asked sarcastically, the bitterness tainting my tone. Dane smirked darkly, nodding.
"Family bonding." He joked harshly, making me chuckle without humor. I sighed sadly, rubbing at the ache that was starting to form between my eyes.
"Why did we get what we did?" I asked angrily, making Dane raise an eyebrow in question. "Why did we deserve the parents we got, instead of happy families?" Dane was about to respond, a pained look on his face, when a scream distracted us.
It was high pitched, but still male, and coming from around the next corner. Without any hesitation we both took into a run, desperate to save whatever stranger lay around that bend.
