Chapter 5 - The Race

     Laurence's POV

     The new girl, Aphmau, seems like a total dork and is sorta... cute? Eh, I'm not into that stuff right now. Focus on the sandwich, Laurence. Mmmm... Goooooood...

     "Laurence, why are you going 'Mmmmm...'? Are you falling in love with the sandwich because it has turkey and cheese in it? Dang..." Zane chucked. "Ooh playa!" Dante teased.

     "You guys are so immature... Laurence! Are you... kissing the sandwich? Dang... Dante was right! You're all for the ladies! Haha!" Aphmau laughed. The way she smiles... no. Stop it.

     Garroth's POV

     The guys are so funny and immature sometimes, but I'm glad they're acting like themselves, instead of being all formal and stuff. I'm also glad Aphmau is comfortable with everyone, especially Laurence. That makes me happy.

     I just love Aphmau's personality. Being able to fit in with people that are, well... crazy, is awesome. It just makes me happy that someone that is new here has found her group of friends.

     "Hey Aphmau, what is your next class? So far, we've had every class together."

     She looked at her schedule and ran her finger until it said "5th period". She looked up."I have gym next, do you have that?"

     Kiki spoke up. "I have gym next period, too! That's so cool! Does anyone else have gym?"

Laurence's POV

Hey! I have gym too! I smiled and said," I have that class too, Aph!- you don't mind me calling you that, by the way...?"

She shook her head and said,"Nope! Don't mind a bit!" Whew, that's good!

     "Well Aph, I bet you can't beat me in a race!" I teased

     She stuck out her tongue and said,"You're talking to a state championship winner, Laurence. I'm pretty sure I could beat you any day."

     "Hey, that's cool! Do you wanna race her, Laurence? I'm sure you'll still do... good!" Kiki quoted with her fingers.

Out On the Track Field...
(Garroth's POV)

     Zane made a whistling noise with his mouth. "Are all runners ready?"

     Laurence and Aphmau both nodded a yes. Oh, Laurence...

     "On your marks... Geeeeet set... GO!" Logan, Donna, Kiki, and Zane screamed.

     They both started off, but Aph was getting ahead of Laurence.

     "Hahahaha! Take... That!" She laughed.

     "NO.... FAIR...! GET BACK... HERE!" Laurence yelled. She was way ahead of him. "Go Aph!" I yelled. Better root for the winning team.

     By the time Laurence finished, Aph was done catching her breath. Dante came up to Laurence and said,"Hey, man, at least you tried!" He held up a little gold star sticker, and placed it against Laurence's shirt.

     "Oh shut up Dante!" Laurence said breathlessly.
