Part 1

Chapter 1

This was it my first day of rehearsal, let me catch you up to speed my name is Lex and im 27 and I have just been cast as Heather in American idiot on Broadway, yes the stage adaptation of Green days album American Idiot.

I was excited I was working with people like John Gallagher jr and Micheal Esper. Like I said I was going to play Heather who was Micheal Espers characters pregnant girlfriend, well I wont spoil the plot of the show.

But lets get on with mine. I pulled up to Berkeley Rep theatre and parked my car. I took a breath before leaving the car and walking in to the theatre. I met with the rest of the cast and they were all very welcoming. We started vocal rehearsal and started singing the songs that were in the show including my solo which would be at the beginning of the show.

After singing the numbers we started to run through the first steps and parts to go with the first song of the show which would be American idiot.

Then we broke for lunch and continued for the day, our director Micheal Mayer congratulate us and said he would see us tomorrow.

This routine would continue for the next few weeks that was untill we were leaving for the day and the director told us that we would be showing off the songs to the band tomorrow as they were coming to see us and check out our progress for the show. I was shocked and speechless I mean I knew that they would but still I was shocked.

I left the theatre and headed home and made some dinner I then grabbed a shower and then ran through my song again I wanted it to be perfect. I then hit the hey and grabbed some sleep for tomorrow.

I woke up to my alarm and then grabbed a shower and some breakfast before heading to the theatre.

I greeted the rest of the cast before we got to working on it. We were halfway through holiday when the boys from Green Day walked through the door and took a seat watching.

We then went through some of the songs. It was then that we were going to my solo. Oh my god I was so nervous to do this in front of the boys. Oh well here goes nothing the music hit and I started singing.

Whilst I was singing Billie Joe kept his eyes on me and never took them off me. Even when Mike whispered something into his ear his eyes were still locked on mine.

Once i finished we went and took a break. I grabbed my water and sat against the wall. Moments later I was joined by none other than Billie. "hey" he said sitting next to me"hey" I replied ok Lex keep calm don't got fangirl over the fact that Green Days Billie Joe is sitting next to you. I told myself to breath and took another drink of water "you have a beautiful voice" he said

"thanks" I replied

"I always visioned that part of the song would be sung by a woman" he said I just nodded

"so what time do you finish rehearsal today?" He asked

"uh I think about six, im not to sure"

"well do you fancy getting a cup of coffee after?"

"uh sure"

" cool ill meet you outside the theatre" he said while getting up

"ok guys lets get back to it " the director yelled
