Chapter fifteen

I unlocked the door using the key under the cracked step. Immediately the smell of tires and vinyl records greeted me, it was home.

I dropped my stuff in the last bedroom and put Strange Days (album by the Doors) on the record player. I started dancing around and singing along to Moonlight Drive.

After loading the fireplace with logs I striked a match and let the smell of a log fire fill my nose.

I curled up next to the fireplace with a book and some hot cocoa. This was going to be so fun.

The next morning I woke up to a loud knocking on my door.

When I opened the door, bright flashing lights and lots of chatter filled my ears.
I covered my eyes with my hand.

"Didn't you hear? Your being put in the hockey hall of fame!" One reporter said.
"Your crazy"

I rolled over and hit my head, waking up with a start.

Groggily I pulled out my phone and called Jason.
"How's Michigan?" He asked cheerfully.
"Cold, but it's home. How's Texas?"
"Good. Hey, mom and dad want to meet you"
"Oh...that's unexpected"
"I suppose..but still"
"Yea...sure"
"I got to go. Love you, bye"
"Love you too"

Almost as soon as we hung up I got a picture message from Eliz. It was from front view, Jason kissing some other girl.

My heart shattered into a million pieces and I called her.
"Tell me your lying" I immediately said when she answered
"I wish I was"
"No!" I yelled.
"Sorry Sagittarius"

I threw my phone at the wall and it shattered upon impact. I fell to my knees and cried.

I called from the home phone Ian and explained the situation. He understood and would pay for the ticket back down.

I sat down at my old desk and wrote a song.

I feel so lost and confused, I hate it that I had to lose...you.
Help me, I need a doctor, I need a doctor. Save me from my returning madness and pull me into external slumber.
Why did you have to do this? I hope you're happy, I hope you're fiiiine.

It was a short song but the lyrics were meaningful. Jason and I weren't technically together..but he told me he loved me, I knew I loved him.

I feel so stupid. I feel like an idiot.

A few days later a plane ticket came in the mail, I repacked my stuff and hailed a cab to the airport.

When I opened the Team Crafted house door a pang landed in my chest. Pushing it aside I put everything back in my room.

"Hey" Ian said solemnly as he entered my room.
"Hi"
"Wanna talk about it?"
"No..." my voice cracked and a tear slipped down my cheek. Ian pulled me into a hug and I cried into his shirt.
"I-I just th-thought he c-c-cared" I sobbed. Ian shushed me.

After my crying ceased I finished unpacking. Ian sat on my bed the whole time.

He ordered take out, bought whatever movie I wanted (which consisted of every Tim Burton movie I could get my hands on) and helped me through it.

Before I knew it, it was time to get everyone from the airport.

I chose to get the girls and Ian got the guys.

I got in my Camaro and drove to the airport. Eliz was first in the car. She noticed my drawnback demeanor and patted my shoulder sympathetically.

Sage got in a few moments later and looked at Eliz for an explanation.

"I'll take you out to lunch and explain"

We went to a small family owned business and sat down in the back corner.

I ordered a small mocha frappe, Sage got hot chocolate and Eliz got hot chocolate as well. Once we got our drinks I began explaining.

"So. A day into my vacation, I'd just got off the phone with Jason. Eliz sends me a picture of Jason kissing some girl. After I hung up with Eliz I threw my phone at the wall. That's why I haven't contacted you. I called Ian from the home phone and he sent me a plane ticket. So now, here I am"

"He did what?!" Sage whisper yelled. I sadly nodded and felt tears prick at the back of my eyes.

She jumped up from the table and hailed a cab before it could get to her.

Sage's p.o.v
I hailed a cab and shouted the address causing a startled jump from the driver.
"Why so angry?" The driver asked.
"Best friend got cheated on" he nodded and drove in silence.

The house came into view. After paying the driver I stomped upstairs to Jason's room.

He was on his phone sitting on his bed.
"Oh hey Sage, how was Fl-" I yanked him up by his hair and smashed his head in the wall.

He didn't bleed or anything but it had to hurt. Immediately he snatched himself from my grasp and scuttled to the other side of the room.

"What the fuck is your problem?!" Jason yelled. I clenched my jaw in anger.
"You. Cheated. On. HER!" I yelled. His eyes widened.
"I-I uh I"
"SAVE IT! YOU DON'T DESERVE HER!" I screamed and walked out slamming the door.

Sorry I hadn't updated in a while. I just got carried away with school and stuff. I'll keep posting XOXO~ Emily
