Chapter 34

That night I couldn't fall asleep, even Hades' gentle breathing didn't make me tired. I was cuddled up against his chest, my mind swirling with a thousand questions. All day I've been worried about how I'm going to react if Hades does get beyond angry again. I know if I run from him it'll hurt him more than ever and he'll probably beat himself up over it. I know he doesn't have full control over that anger, but he is working on it. I glanced up at his face, smiling at the solace look as he slept.

I cupped his face and gently stroked his cheek with my thumb, just studying him. I wanted to know what his father's Beta had done to him, but I was afraid to ask him. Asking him means he'll have to relive that moment, to go through that pain again. I couldn't bring myself to make him go through that, but I know he'll eventually have to face it. I sighed and nuzzled closer to him, enjoying the warmth as it wrapped around me.

Hades a very broken man, but I know I can fix him. The only question is, how? By loving him and being by his side? I know that's usually the answer, but maybe he needs a therapist. Someone he can talk to about the demons from his past. I lightly kissed his lips, just needing to show my love for him. Even if he's not awake to feel it.

I focused on my mark on him, smiling at the memory. I ran my finger over it, causing him to shudder and moan. I swallowed as my core began to ache, no, now is not the time. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep, tried to ignore my hormones. Hades suddenly pinned me to the bed and started kissing my neck.

I sighed in content, but of course he got up before I could fall asleep. I scowled at him as he went inside the bathroom only to return a few seconds later. He climbed back and in bed and pulled me close.

"What?" he asked as I continued to glower at him.

"I was about to fall asleep." I grumbled.

He laughed, "Well, I had to take it off."

"Oh my goddess, go to bed!"

"What? You asked for it!"

"Did not! I was stating a fact!"

"So was I!" he countered.

We both looked at each other before laughing, "We're going to drive each other insane." I grinned.

He laughed, "I know, but I'll still love you."

"And I'll still love you too."

"...the condom didn't break, right?"

He sighed, "No, it didn't break."

"Good, because, if it did I'm going to beat you. Love you."

"Well, damn, love you too."

I giggled before finally falling asleep.
