On the way back home, I cuddled into Edward’s side and nodded off after we had been on the road for a while. Edward woke me up when we arrived and questioned me about being able to sleep, though you could tell he wasn’t really shocked after everything else that was different between our species, kind, classification, whatever you want to call it. We walked into the house behind the others, Edward’s armed wrapped firmly around my waist. When we entered the living room, Esme and Carlisle were sitting on the couch waiting for us. When they looked at us they had puzzled expressions.
“Who is this young lady?” Carlisle asked with confusion. Ohhhhh. They haven’t met Beth yet.
“This is my best friend, Beth. We met a couple of centuries ago at a ballet. Though I’m not sure how she could sit through the whole thing. She’s always so hyper.” I said in all seriousness. This made them chuckle.
“Well it’s nice to meet you, Beth. How long will you be staying with us?” Carlisle asked looking more relaxed once he realized it was a friend of mine.
“I’m not sure, Carlisle. Maybe a few months. I don’t want to impose.” Beth said with uncertainty.
“It’s no problem dear,” Esme answered. “Stay as long as you like. There is plenty of room, and I’m sure Bella would like you around for awhile.” She finished with a motherly smile, and walked over to Beth, enveloping her in a heartfelt embrace.
“Thank you, Esme. I appreciate it. You too Carlisle.” Beth said with a smile. “Sooo…. Whatcha been up to Bells? We didn’t get much of a chance to catch up last night.” She said as we made our way to the couch with Edward attached to my side. I couldn’t stand to be away from him for long.
“Not much really. Moving around a lot, fighting off the occasional wanderer who had less than honorable intentions or was just looking for a fight. The usual.” As I said this, I felt Edward’s chest rumble. He was holding back a growl, so I squeezed his hand rubbing soothing circles with my thumb and he slowly relaxed. “What about you Beth? What have you been up to?”
She smirked. “Well, I traveled pretty much everywhere I hadn’t already been and back to my favorite places to see what had changed. I had a couple steady boyfriends, but every time things started to get serious they found there soul mates. Lucky bastards.” Her face fell as she recalled the memories. “It seems I’m a mate magnet. If only mine would show up….” Her voice trailed off and her eyes took on a glazed look. She was in la la land, and there was not really much you could do about it when she went there. She sighed after about ten minutes and snapped back to reality.
“He’s out there somewhere Bee, you-” She cut me off.
“Just have to be patient, I know, I know. You tell me that every time I bring up this subject.” She said with a sigh.
“That’s because it’s the truth. He’s out there. You just have to find the right place and he’ll be there somewhere. Kind of like how I found Edward. You get a gut feeling that you need to be in a place and everything will fall into place.” I said with a smile and a look at Edward. I suddenly thought of something and turned back to Beth. “How did you find me? I hadn’t told anyone where I was going and you didn’t have any way of tracking me.” I asked stumped.
She shrugged. “Just felt like I needed to be here. I caught your sent and I followed it.” Then suddenly her face lit up. “He’s here isn’t he? That’s the only way that…..” Her voice trailed off and she jumped up. “I have to go. I’ll be back later.” And with that she left in a blur, exiting through the back door.

So sorry for the long wait and the short sucky chapter. I have a mega case of writers block. I’m trying my best here and I’ll try not to make you wait as long for the next chapter. Don’t forget to vote and comment. Your comments really make my day. Give me some criticism! I want to grow with my writing and I can’t do that if no one tells me what I’m doing right and wrong. Have an awesome day and happy reading! :D - Jazz
