"Where were you?" Fawnheart rushed to her apprentice. "The dirt place." Heatherpaw lied again. " I didn't know apprentices could even wake up this early!" Fawnheart purred. "Neither did I!" Finchstar said. "Finchstar!" Heatherpaw purred,happy to see her father. "Fawnheart,I'd like to talk to you in my den about-" Heatherpaw couldn't hear the rest. "About what?" Heatherpaw asked. Fawnheart shot her a look,"Something nosey apprentices shouldn't know." Finchstar looked heart broken,with eyes full of sadness. "Father is something wrong?" Heatherpaw fretted. "Fawnheart,I think we should let her see." Fawnheart sighed,"Finchstar,this is going to break her heart. Losing some cat at a very young age is devastating." "Losing some cat? W-what?! Is something wrong with my family?!" Heatherpaw's watery eyes blinked,trying not to cry. Finchstar beckoned his tail for them to follow into his den. "F-finchstar? Is that-" A weak voice stopped and had a coughing fit. "Yes,its me and Fawnheart and Heatherpaw." Finchstar sighed. "N-no! I don't want Heatherpaw to see me like this." The weak voice cried. "She deserves to know." Finchstar murmured. "We will get Hazelpaw after she gets back from patrol." He said.
The cats went deeper into Finchstars den. "Mother!" Heatherpaw cried. "You look so sick!" Heatherpaw's tears started to fall. "I-Im sorry." The weak she cat sobbed. "Heatherpaw! Go get the herbs for Greencough! Quick!" Fawnheart hissed. Heatherpaw ran into the Medicine Den to get everything she needed. "Here." She quickly gave the catmint to Fawnheart. "This better work. Its a horrible case of Greencough."Heatherpaw heard Fawnheart say under her breath. "Wheres Heatherpaw?" A voice from outside the den asked. "Hazelpaw! Get in here please!" Finchstar called. Within seconds Hazelpaw was by her mother's side. "Mother! No!" She cried. Robintail slowly ate the catmint. "Please get better." Heatherpaw whispered. "Heatherpaw,Hazelpaw please leave the den." Finchstar said. "But-" "No buts! Out now." Finchstar rushed. The sisters left the den. 'I hope mother doesn't die.'
