All of the cats in EarthClan sat vigil for their leader and fallen clan mates. "Alright, vigil is over." Robinstars sad meow sounded. "As it is tradition, I must choose a new deputy at moon high. My deputy will be Poppyheart." She said and left to her den. Poppyheart stood still in astonishment. "Congratulations,Poppyheart." Heatherpaw put her tail tip on her shoulder. Poppyheart gave her a respectful nod. "Heatherpaw lets go. It's half moon." Fawnheart mewed. Heatherpaw followed her mentor out of camp.
"Hi,Heatherpaw!" Troutpaw purred. Heatherpaw smiled "Hello."Is every cat here?" Rainshade asked. "Redmeadow isn't here yet." Dawnleaf looked around. "Maybe Crowstar is mad at her." Fawnheart suggested. The Medicine Cats shrugged. "We'll just have to go without her." Dawnleaf sighed. The cats went to the moon stone without Redmeadow. "Before we talk to StarClan, I would like to perform a very special ceremony." Rainshades old voice cracked. "Troutpaw,I will be giving you your Medicne Cat name." Rainshade went through the ceremony. "Troutwing! Troutwing!" The cats cheered,Heatherpaw the loudest. Troutwing purred and shared a glance with his friend.
"Heatherpaw! Wake up!" Fawnhearts voice sounded urgent. "W-what?" Heatherpaw got up. "You were screaming. Did something horrid happen?" Fawnheart asked,worry flickered in her eyes. "I saw Robinstar be murdered by a cat." Heatherpaw whispered. "Lets go back to camp." She beckonded her tail. "Hold on I stepped on a thorn." Heatherpaw lied. "Meet me at behind the twoleg barn." Troutwing quickly murmured. Heatherpaw left with her mentor.
Heatherpaw waited until Fawnheart was asleep and got up. "Where are you going?" Berrywing asked. "I ate a bad mouse,so im going to do the dirtplace." Heatherpaw lied. Berrywing nodded.
"Troutwing!" Heatherpaw purred and ran to her friend. Troutwing purred back. "Hey Heatherpaw!" Troutwing smiled. ""Congratulations Troutwing." Heatherpaw grinned. "Thanks!" "Is it fun being a full medicine cat now?" "Yes,its amazing! You get so much more respect from your clanmates!" The two medicine cats talked until the sun was slightly showing. "We've been here all night!" Troutwing gasped. "I gotta go!" Heatherpaw flicked her tail in goodbye. "Wait!" Troutwing called. Heatherpaw stopped,"Yeah?" Troutwing touched noses with her and left.
