"The scene still haunts me," he whispered, "it tortures my thoughts."
My lips landed onto Benjamin's cheek. His tone suddenly calmer and we fell back into an inviting silence. Our noses barely touching.
The sun streamed through the crack between the luscious curtains. It was eager to bring a new day yet we both weren't ready to let this moment go. All I wanted was to lay on the floor with our legs intertwined forever.
The world could wait awhile. We each had done our share of misery. Now, we deserved the chance to live as if time froze.
I scooted a bit closer into his open arms. The hold made an excuse for me to lay my ear against his chest. There was an alluring beat that sung. It brought a smile to my face.
Maybe it was the idea thathis heart was near which made me euphoric. Maybe it was the fact mine silently admitted it's fondness towards him. They weren't too far apart. We were almost on the same chapter.
"Bennie?"
He gazed down at me. The grip tighter on my hips. "Hmmm?"
My breath hitches. The words wouldn't come out. They felt unsure whether to bare my true self to him. What if he stomped all my heart? What if he turned away?
Remember you're a risk taker, but I have never done this before. Did people feel this way on a daily basis? Like their lives were dangling on an invisible thread?
"Um....," say it you big idiot, "I-" he needs to know.
"You?"
"I-" my voice tried again. Dammit, how hard is it to mumble three little words?
"Are you thirsty, Rarity? Your voice keeps cracking. I can go get you some water."
No, I don't need something to drink! Don't you realize what I'm trying to do here? Geez, are you that dense?
I nodded to him. "Yes, water sounds nice."
Stupid idiot, my inner self scolded.
Benjamin sat up slightly, pulling his weight onto his elbows. The hair upon his head fluffed up. It gave him a stunning quality.
"Are you hungry at all?"
Immensely so, my mind chimed in causing me to grow flustered. This was all going to leave a horrible headache for later.
"Sure, how about I help?" I offered. It'd be nice to focus on anything other than the way his shirt was wrinkling up his chest.
God Homes, do you see those muscles?
He sensed deep stare and spoke louder to bring the attention back to his face. There wasn't a smirk greeting me like I expected instead he stayed not phased.
"Let's go wash up then. The kitchen's just past the dinning area."
Weird, usually he would make some sort of comment.
He waited for me to catch my footing before walking us around the staircase to an open entry way. We entered the spacious room and the first object that caught my eye was the marvelous long oak table. It bared no items but chips of usefulness. I could see dinners happening between Benjamin and his mother.
I wonder if his dad ever joined?
"They repaired the wall," Benjamin said aloud. His eyebrows were knitted together as he studied the farthest wall. The acknowledgment didn't sit right with him.
