Milky Way

I've never been a person who second guesses themselves. On occasion, some people have said my ideas aren't the greatest, but never did their words make me question. I did what I wanted without any worry. If my actions hurt somebody, it was on them. Not me.

Well, that's what I have always believed until tonight.

"Rarity, you've been staring out that window for quite awhile." Benjamin said. He sat down two hot cocoa mugs on the coffee table. He studied my tense posture before sitting beside me.

"Is there something bothering you?" He asked while brushing a few stray hairs away from my face.

I blinked out of thought and looked around the living space. It is awful strange how everything looks so different in the dark. Almost as if your stuck in an empty void.

I rose my hands before me and begun to clench them. Thankfully, I was still here. It was only time till my presence became a distant memory.

But that was a good thing, right?

Right.

"No, it's nothing." I said while forcing a smile in his direction, "a lots just been happening. It's so hard to wrap my head around it."

Benjamin rose an eyebrow, "is this about what happened with Blake at dinner or...?"

"About my feeling towards you?" I assumed before resting my head on his shoulder, "it's neither, Bennie. I'm happy to have fallen in love with you and I'm glad Bumble yelled at me during dinner."

"Really?"

"Yeah, he never shows his true emotions. It really proves how much he considers you all part of his family."

"So," he blushed, "you truly do feel the same way about me that I do you?"

I rolled my eyes. He always had to be so nervous. It's not like my feelings for him would change.

"Benjamin Knight, I love you."

We fell into a comfortable silence. He held us close together and smiled to himself. I wondered what he was thinking. Was he recalling the moment we met at the gas station? Was he smiling at the memory where we danced in the middle of nowhere?

I wish he understood what he did to me. He took a woman who wanted to watch the world burst into flames and helped her see the hidden wonders. When everyone else shook their heads at the broken, he grabbed onto my hand.

He listen to the hatred in my tone towards certain obstacles then pointed out something beautiful. I always saw everything in black and white but with him, I saw bright colors.

There was gold that danced with joyous laughter. There was pink that appeared during each act of love and friendship. There was lavender which decorated the sky in celebration of a new day and let's not forget my new favorite shade: navy.

The color of a starless sky. The color which found a way to bring common peace. The color that came when it knew it was needed. The color that would forever hold a special place in my tainted heart.

I squeezed his hand. He was already fast asleep, still wearing that foolish grin. There were so many things I wanted to say before leaving but this little voice in the back of head said it was best to let him sleep. He already had enough sleepless nights at the hospital.
