Chapter 1

It has been a year since the last letter have came in. I wonder if something had happened to father at Kyoto...

-2 Year ago-
"Rima, Chizuru. Father is going off to Kyoto for another business trip."

"For how long would it be?" Asked Chizuru

"I am not quite sure for myself yet. But I promise you that I'll keep writing letters to you girls. And Rima, please take care of Chizuru. When I leave, your the oldest. You have also learn how to use your katana. You're able to protect Chizuru. I am leaving Chizuru in your care. Of course I don't want you to get hurt too. If there is anything that has happened to any of you and you have no solutions to it, find Dr. Matsumoto. He will be able to help you guys out. His a good friend of mine. So don't worry. And don't wander around outside at night Rima." Father said while packing his stuff for his trip to Kyoto.

Our father, Yukimura Kodo, is a western doctor. In this era, it's rare to find a western doctor. So my father would usually be summon to other places around Japan. But his trips are usually short as he doesn't want to leave us girls alone at Edo for too long. His afraid that something might happen while his gone. Especially to Chizuru.

"Alright Father. I will write back to you as well father. Since onee-chan would be busy going out for work to keep our income coming" Chizuru said it while forcing a smile on a face.

I know that she doesn't want father to go off for such a long time. But she doesn't want father to be worried even thought he is already really worried as he kept reminding me to protect Chizuru.

He had always been worried about Chizuru since she is really innocent and pure. She is also a beauty that any guy would want as a wife. So in order protect her, I went to learn sword fight. Although father was really against it since I am also a lady, but in order to protect Chizuru from those pervertic men, I was allowed to learn. Chizuru had also learn how to use Kodachi(short sword) for self defences purposes. It wasn't like I was forced to or anything unlike Chizuru.
But father would always put more love for Chizuru then me. I can't blame him. Afterall, which lady would walk around in town dessed like a guy with two katana strap to the side of the waist and even goes out to work like a man does. He also knew that I know about his secrets that he is trying to keep from away from both Chizuru and I, which have made our relationship worst.

"Don't worry father. I'll protect Chizuru and myself from any danger." I said it confidently with a kind off too innocent smile. I was trying to reassure to Chizuru that she doesn't have to worry that much. Even though I didn't like talking to father after i found out his secrets.

Chizuru saw through my intentions. She knew that i didnt like talking to father so she gave me a light smile.

"Well then. I'm off"

"Take care of your heath and have a safe trip." Chizuru and I said it together as like we always does when father have to go off.

-2 Year later(Now)-
'I have yet to get any information about father. Chizuru is getting more and more worried about father each day. Even though I didn't really like father. But he has raised me up for 20 years now. I cant simply come to the conclusion of hating him. Unless he were to do something unforgiveable to Chizuru or... telling Chizuru about the secret...' These thoughts ran through my mind while I was walking back home.

"I'm home!" I shouted as i entered the house.

But there wasn't any replies at all. Usually Chizuru would run out to the front door to welcome me back. But it was awfully quiet at home today. Immediately I noticed that something is wrong. More like something has happened to Chizuru. I quickly ran to her room but was not able to find anyone there. But only a letter on the table that was left for me. I quickly open up and read it.

"Onee-chan, I am really worried about father at Kyoto. He told us that we can go find Dr. Matsumoto if we are in trouble. Although we are not in trouble I am still going to find Dr. Matsumoto at Kyoto to see if there is any news from father. I am sorry to leave without informing you first. I have brought the family kodachi with me. I've learn some self defense at the dojo when I was younger together with you. So don worry about me. I am able protect myself. I am really sorry for leaving before informing you. But i know i must go. These unpleasent feeling that ive been having after father did not sent letters to us seem like its telling me that something had happened to father. And I can't let you find information all the time by yourself while I stay at home. You're already really tired after your work and yet you still have to go search informations about father so that I would not get too worried. I can't be a burden to you. Please take care of yourself in Edo while I go search for information about father in Kyoto. I'll be back within 2 weeks if nothing goes wrong.

Hello everyone! Hope you had enjoy this fanfic. This is my 1st time ever writing a fanfiction. I would need alot of help from readers from now on. And the title of the fanfic may change as this title was came up last minute. I really donknow what to use for the title. Do comment your suggestion! And the cover photo, Ill design it soon.
