11:54 PM

Your fingers tapped the table nervously as you resisted the urge to bite your nails. You really weren't someone to get anxious over things, but this art contest was really important for your career. After your professor had seen the piece you turned in, he suggested you enter it into a contest that some colleges were hosting - the prize was a nice scholarship that would really help out with tuition, and it would also get your work noticed. So, needless to say, you were nervous.

Steve was honestly the sweetest man on the planet, and no one could doubt that - he offered to wait with you until the results were out, even though they showed at midnight. You had tried to object several times, but he wanted to see if you won. Plus, even though he'd never admit it to you, he enjoyed spending time with you.

"Here you are," he smiled as he placed a mug of tea next to your shaking hand.

"You're the best, Steve," you sighed happily and took the mug in your hands to stop the tapping, but you kept your eyes on the screen the whole time. 11:58 PM. He took a seat next to you, also looking at the clock on the computer.

"You didn't have to stay up with me," you murmured after taking a sip, surprised he made it just the way you liked it. Maybe he had a lucky guess?

He rolled his eyes, even though you didn't notice because yours were fixed on the timer. "I know I didn't have to, but I want to. I saw how much effort you put into that piece, and I want to see you win."

You blushed slightly, risking looking away from the screen to smile at him, "Thanks, but I think that best I'll get is probably third. There are over a thousand entries."

"You don't give yourself enough credit," he sighed, but before you could reply, the timer went off and you both jumped.

Your fingers scrambled against the keyboard as you loaded the list of winners, both of you leaning forward in anticipation. You hadn't been this nervous and excited since you were waiting to see if you got the job at Stark Industries.

The list popped up and you scrolled to the top, nerves practically consuming you. You stopped when the name came up for winners and runner-ups.

"Oh my God," you covered your mouth, grinning uncontrollably, "Steve, I got first place!"

"You serious?"

You squealed like a five year old and grabbed his hands, almost jumping up and down with excitement. "Yes! This is insane!"

You threw your arms around his neck, hugging him. "Thanks for staying up with me."

He chuckled, holding you tightly. "Hey, it was worth it to see the look on your face."

You smiled up at him when you pulled away rather reluctantly. "God, I don't think I'll be able to go to sleep after this."

He raised an eyebrow, "Do you want to pull another all-nighter?"

"You really want to?" You laughed lightly.

"I thought it was pretty obvious," he rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly nervous, "I like spending time with you, Y/N. Even if it's when we're sleep deprived and talking about art. That might be my favourite time, actually."

You were undoubtedly blushing like a school girl as you smiled at your feet before looking back up at him, "I like spending time with you too, Steve. Quite a bit, actually."
