Next up is the last part (or second to last part) of "This War Isn't Civil", and then I'm going to give you some Bucky fluff because I have thrown too much angst at you guys I am so sorry for that.

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

You didn't want him to leave.

That was obvious, to the both of you. The universe was cruel, finally allowing the two of you to be together, only to pull you apart again.

You weren't very superstitious, but you remembered that your mother was. She believed in things like fate, and soulmates - and by God, if she could see you and James Buchanan Barnes right now, she wouldn't deny that something brought you two together. And it wasn't just the shitty world war.

That was something that bothered you the most, probably. You started wondering if your mother's beliefs that there was something greater controlling all of us, were maybe true. Because you started wondering if you caused grief wherever you went.

You family was ripped from you, friends that you made back in Germany were likely to be dead, and now here you were, with another person you cared about, who was heading back into the war zone.

And even though you didn't want to, you couldn't help but wonder if something would happen to him too.

"Komm zu mir zurück," you said softly, "Ich liebe dich."

"What did you say?" Bucky asked in an amused tone, but you just shook your head.

"I will tell you when you come back," you said cheekily to hide your slight fear, ignoring it when he rolled his eyes and pulled you into a kiss, causing you to giggle.

"I'll come back to you, doll, I promise," he said quietly when you two had pulled apart, "This is supposed to be one of the last missions. We'll go to America, and you can meet my family, they'll surely love ya-"

"Barnes, quit your flirting and get your behind in the truck!" You laughed lightly when one of the Howling Commandos, as they now called themselves, shouted to Bucky.

You weren't paying attention to whatever he shouted back to them, just staring in admiration at his smile lines, the way his blue eyes looked like they were shining when he turned back to you. At the moment, you didn't realize you were trying to memorize his features.

"You alright, sweetheart?" He asked in a worried tone, probably noticing the slight buildup of tears in your eyes.

"Yes, I am fine," you laughed it off, hugging him tightly, "I will just miss you, that's all. You should get going."

"I'll be back before you know it," he murmured into your hair as he hugged you back. You couldn't bring yourself to respond, just giving him a small smile as he kissed your forehead, heading for the truck with a little wave.

You chose to ignore the sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach.

You were lucky. Most American soldiers that would see a German, especially a German girl, would surely throw slurs and make nasty comments. But at that camp, it wasn't the case.
