This got longer than expected. I'm going to do one more part after this. I don't know how I feel about this part so I'm probably going to edit it later but...yeah. Enjoy!

Two weeks. All it took was two weeks for Bucky to know for sure that you were different, that you were nothing like the girls he knew back in Brooklyn, no, you were worth a hundred of 'em. All it took was two weeks for Bucky to realize that he was falling for you, and he was falling hard.

For the first few days, you were understandably shy. He would ask some questions, sometimes you would answer, or sometimes you wouldn't because you couldn't figure out how to say what you wanted to say very well in English. He taught you some American slang, and you taught him how to say some basic things in German.

He got you to laugh the first time you taught him how to say a word. It was one of his favourite sounds in the world, he realized, the second he heard it.

"No, no, pronounce it like this," you said, an amused smile on your face, "Soldat."

"Solbat," Bucky said, scrunching his nose. You shook your head, suddenly letting out a quiet but shocking laugh, not noticing Bucky's surprised expression.

"Try again. Soldat. SolDAT."

"Sol...dat."

"There, you said it!" You smiled widely, another thing that caught Bucky off guard. He hadn't seen you this genuinely happy before, but it made him feel good inside.

"And what does soldat mean?" He asked curiously, not helping the grin on his lips, "I think I've heard you call me that a few times."

"Soldier," you responded, tilting you head up slightly, "That is what you are, is it not?"

God, she already has a pet name for you, Bucky thought to himself, unable to chuckle at that. "Right you are, Y/N. I kinda like it."

"Good, then maybe I am going to keep calling you that, soldat."

It wasn't easy either, falling in love with you. Of course it wasn't, not in the situation that the two of you were in. But hell, he knew you had him wrapped around your finger from day one. It just took him two weeks to realize it, because once those couple of weeks passed - it was tested.

Because you had finally discovered why you were brought to this place. Experimentation

After almost a week, the guards had seemed to acknowledge your presence for the first time since you were brought in. When one guard came to retrieve you, Bucky wasn't able to stop them. He tried, like hell, but there wasn't much he could do considering he was trapped in a cell.

For nearly three hours, he shouted at guards to demand where you were, he paced his cell, he almost ripped his damn hair out and he finally realized how much you meant to him, this girl he had known for a week that was from a country he was fighting against, who was clearly too innocent to be mixed up in this war. He couldn't help but think about what they were doing to you, or if you would even come back.

And he knew he would always remember the look on your face when you were returned to your cell, and he knew that if he ever got out of that God-forsaken hell hole, he would make every HYDRA guard pay for whatever they did to you that caused you to look so terrified.

"Y/N," he asked quietly once you had gotten back, sitting at the far end of your cell and sitting leaned up against the wall, facing him but not looking at him. "Are you-are you okay?"
