19. Bucky - Blame Natasha Part One

You and your brother were a lot alike. For one, you had both been in the military, and both worked at the VA (though you only did it on weekends). You were both outgoing and funny and people enjoyed your company (even though the two of you together were like a nightmare). But you had separated ways as you joined up with SHIELD once you were done in the air force, and Sam, well; he joined Captain America.

When Sam came and told you he was putting the wings back on, you had laughed. You never thought he was serious, but when the fall of SHIELD came down and you saw your brother flying around the helicarriers while you were evacuating the Triskelion, you knew he wasn't kidding. And it scared you.

Sam liked to try and keep you private from the Avengers, and you understood his reasoning. Your fighting skills were peak level, you had been in the army and a SHIELD agent as well, and he was a bit afraid that they would try and recruit you, and being the over protective brother he was, he couldn't allow that. 

But even he couldn't protect you from Natasha Romanoff. 

When Sam dragged you to one of Stark's parties just because he was worried you didn't get out enough anymore, Natasha pretty much took you under her wing. She complained that she didn't have enough girl friends in her life and was pretty determined on making you one. 

You didn't mind (I mean, who wouldn't want to be friends with the Black Widow) and the two of you became pretty inseparable, but it also meant you were around the Avengers a lot too. And pretty soon, Sam's internal fear came true - you were one of them.

"So when are you gonna get a boyfriend?" Natasha asked one day, her eyes practically pinning you to your seat. "Every guy I set you up with, you find a way to get out of it. I mean, do you play for the other team? Cause I can arrange that-"

"No, no, Nat," you laughed, shaking your head, "It's not that. The guys you set me up with are fine, it's just they're not what I'm looking for."

"Then what are you looking for?" She continued, resting her chin on her hands and narrowing her eyes at you. "Come on, Y/N, I'm doing my best."

"What's up with you and setting people up?" You rolled your eyes, "Steve keeps complaining to me about this too. Where's your boyfriend, huh?"

"Don't change the subject!" She chuckled, taking a drink from her coffee, "Listen, all I'm saying is that I've known you for a few years now and I haven't seen you with anyone. Do you not want that?"

"I don't need a man," you grinned, "I think I'm doing fine just on my own."

"I never said you needed a man," she scoffed, "Trust me, I know you don't. But it's fun you know, just to go on dates and even hook up with someone, there's no shame in that! Give me another chance to set you up with someone, please."
