I could hear the faint sounds of a crowd cheering, it seemed that Miles Kane was just arriving to get ready for his concert that would be starting in an hour. I picked up the pace, not caring for Ashley who's heeled boots were doing the same. In the right circumstances I hope for my own sake that she would do the same. In my books it can hardly be a fault if someone were to easily do it back.
I found myself at the back of a sea of people, ignoring the shrieks from Ashley as she stumbled into a bin. I slipped out a bottle of Absolute Vodka that I had raided from the alcohol cupboard and poured it into a large hip flask, that was much too large for my own. My mother was always very insistent that the alcohol was only for family gatherings and not to be drank in excess. A thought I quite often ignored. Opening the flask I was glad that it wasn't particularly strong smelling, at least then I should hopefully get in.
Putting the flask to my lips and taking a big gulp I winced as all at once my throat flared up, before dulling down to a low pain. It was either that or drinking whiskey, which was the only other alcohol drink to get me drunk fast. I had to be careful to not finish the full bottle but it seemed that my throat had other ideas as I had already downed half the flask.
"Fuck" I muttered as I could already feel the signs of tipsiness, my head began to feel much lighter and the world seemed a lot more dizzier. I steadied myself using the back of the guy in front, who didn't even turn around. To be fair he seemed drunk himself, either that or I was beginning to hallucinate scents.
"Emma!" Ashley hissed grabbing my arm, I turned to her and grinned
"What?"
It was then that turning around I saw another entrance to the building, one which was unguarded. I took my chances and swayed down the alley towards it. I just hoped I could meet him, just once. Just touch his arm or something. Nothing weird. Perhaps a gentle fondle.
"Emma, what are you doing?!"
"Oh fuck off!" I replied. She wouldn't dare come after me, she would want all the other men in the line to drool all over her, I on the other hand only wanted to see Miles and this seemed my best bet.
I grabbed the steel handle that was freezing to the touch, I screwed up one eye as I twisted it round, as if that would make any difference - or perhaps it did as the door swung open to a bright white corridor-.
I grinned at my little success and entered the building, thankful for the heating. I sighed before downing the rest of the flask and hiding it behind a bush they were growing, or at least it looked like they were attempting to grow a bush. Bushes in my opinion didn't seem like the sort of thing you would grow in a building but to each your own.
"You go bush!" I grinned winking before swaying down the corridor.
"I'm lost, I'm so lost" I moaned as I turned to see what could only be described as a maze in front of me. Two corridors split off and then in the distance I could see the corridor split off even more.
It was then I found myself clattering with the wall and yet another bush they were trying to grow as a door swung open.
"Shit!" I mumbled pulling myself up, trying to see who or what had attacked me.
It was then I saw him, Miles standing there uttering a quick "Sorry" before rushing to see if I was okay.
-
"What are you doing back here anyways?" he frowned his Scouse accent seemed angelic in my drunken haze.
"I got lost" I grinned looking up at his crouched figure.
"What? You just found yourself backstage?" he said with a cheeky grin.
He was obviously being polite, anyone else would have thought I was a stalker, unless he thought I was like twelve and just a very lost and drunken child.
"I was cold!" I frowned rubbing my arms as if that would emphasis my point " I got tickets, I'm not exactly trespassing to your concert" I mumbled
"Just thought you'd trespass backstage?" he grinned before extending a hand that I grabbed.
I slipped into him as he pulled me up causing my face to come very close to his neck. He smelled of light booze and cigarettes. I let his scent quickly envelope me before I withdrew.
"Sorry" I mumbled
"Nah you know what it's fine, it's just you though yeah, nobody else. I'll get in trouble otherwise!"
"I like your jacket" I replied not knowing quite what else to say, and of course I had to touch his jacket -just to remind him that the leather garment he was wearing was his jacket and not his trousers-.
"Oh, thank you, I- like yours shirt!" he said with a stammer.
He was obviously regretting not calling security on the small girl who was seemingly insane.
"Oh you're just saying that to be polite" I replied biting my bottom lip and looking up into his eyes "but thank you" I added before pulling myself away from his chocolaty stare.
"Oh I'm not, but what was your name again?" he asked, a blush coming to his cheeks as he -in my mind anyways- forgot that I hadn't told him and assumed he had just forgot.
"I never said, it's Emma, Emma Ainsworth" I smiled, trying my best 'I'm cute not psychotic, I swear' look.
He extended his hand which I took and shook.
"Nice to meet you Emma" he smiled
"Nice to meet you too Miles" I grinned back in response -of course now it seemed that I was taking on a new level of crazy-
"Uhm, I've got to go on stage in twenty minutes so I better..." he said, his words tailing off into silence.
"Could you help me find the seating part first though, quickly." I asked, remembering how lost I was.
"Okay, yeah sure I'll try" Miles replied scratching his head, I could see the jacket tighten revealing traces of his toned body.
I blushed and looked away in a moment of sobriety before the drunkenness 'kicked in' and I found myself skipping after Miles who was walking fast -whether to get rid of me quickly or because he was worried about time I wasn't sure- ahead.
He turned round to look at me and I thought I caught a glimpse of a smile play upon his pale lips before he turned. I almost thought that I was sober again as I walked close behind him without swaying, that is until I tripped over his shoes and found myself crashing into his arms in front of him.
"Ah careful Emma!" he laughed pulling me up, his white shirt was now untucked revealing a glimpse of the body underneath the leather. I found myself giggling and blushing as I straightened up, this time however his arm stayed around my body for moments longer than he had when he helped me up, before he quickly dropped his arm. His hand lightly grazing my lower back.
I just wanted to kiss him. My sober self wanted to kiss him. My drunk self certainly wanted to kiss him but I kept myself under control.
I looked up at him, a frown played quickly across my face as I saw his eyes quickly flash up and forward away from me before wandering back down. I grinned and playfully punched him in the chest before skipping ahead.
"You're mad" he laughed shaking his head before chasing after me.
I shrieked as his hands grabbed me and we toppled into the wall, my small frame was no match for a man ten years older than me.
We laughed before he helped me back up and we turned a bend in the corridor. Up ahead I could see people going to their seats. This was obviously a fire-exit route that connected with the dressing rooms.
"Well I'm sorry Emma, I better be going. You enjoy yourself though yeah?" He said before turning to go away.
"Of course" I said before grabbing his arm and gently kissing his cheek
I hurried away, not looking back for his reaction.
