Bryce: Friends Went Drinking

The first thing Bryce saw when his life started to flash before his eyes was Lavander wearing an ill-fitted white dress with her hair and make-up done. It was nice to see her sister become so blooming and beautiful but this wasn’t any memory of his since she never saw his sister on a dress or the fact that his sister would never agree to wear a dress.

“Are you sure about this?” Lavander asked as she put on mascara. Bryce never thought she knew how to place them on. Another girl came in from the bathroom with a black stunning dress that went to cover her feet. She walked to Lavander where she handed her two diamond earrings which Lavander took.

“Yes, it’s tradition. We do it every year, it’s very safe.” She remarked then scrutinized at herself in the mirror. She took some pink gloss from the drawer and placed them on. It took her several tries just to get the right shade of pink that she wanted.

The door opened and Devin who was in a pin stripe suit came in who looked dashing with his hair nicely done, Bryce was refreshed to see him away from the fish cut hairstyle that had been his do ever since he discovered hair wax. “You guys ready yet?” Devin said.

“In a minute,” the girls said then Devin closed the door. She took the hairspray out and sprayed it on her red hair, she smiled for a moment and did some last minute touches.

“I just have this hunch that something bad is going to happen today Belle,” Lavander said and stood up to look at herself in a full body mirror, “almost all of the purple in once place, don’t you think that’s a no brainer for the Santhrose?”

“If they ever attack, then all of the purple are here. Don’t you feel safe that way?” Belle said then took Lavander’s hand where they proceeded outside and left Bryce consciousness alone in the room.

Someone or something turned the lights off then Bryce suddenly felt his senses coming along but it seemed that only his hearing was working since he didn’t have control over his arms or to even open his eyes. He was stuck with darkness, he tried to move even just his pinky finger but nothing was working.

The beeping sound of a heart monitor was all Bryce heard when the door swung open and the sound of rustling plastic bags broke the silence. “Good Morning,” it was a friendly female voice who said it. She closed the doors and placed the plastic bags somewhere.

“Good Morning,” a tired voice who Bryce recognized as the man who saved him from the prison cell said, he yawned a bit then popped out his joints. He heard footsteps then the rustling sounds of the plastic bags as if the girl was unpacking what was inside.

“How is he?” the girl asked then went on to place heavy items on a nearby table. Bryce was so intrigued on who the girl was, it wasn’t Lavander or any other girl she knew.

“Still asleep,” the man said then opened a soda can. He drank it where Bryce clearly heard him gulping. His senses might have been sharpened for the meantime.

“Who could he be?” the girl said. Her footsteps suddenly fade of to the other corner of the room where she closed the window blinds or opened them then pressed the door locks and checked if they were locked.

“He’s important to be kept as prisoner, that’s what I’m thinking. If he’s not important then he should be dead but he’s not so he must be,” the man said as Bryce heard the sound of leather compressing which may indicate that he sat on a leather sofa.

Slowly droplets of rain poured down then within minutes it grew stronger and stronger. “He must be special,” the girl said then a round of thunder came which frightened the girl. “I better get on going. I have some things to attend to.”

“See you around,” the man said then the door opened and it shut softly.

Bryce didn’t feel the time moving along, he didn’t feel it slowing or speeding up. He didn’t feel bored even though he couldn’t count how many hours or days it had been ever since he woke up. He had minor visions about things that wouldn’t even be helpful like a man playing the piano or a group of friends drinking, this filled most of Bryce’s time while his mind was awake and his body wasn’t. He tried hard to move any part of his body but none of them would obey.

Nothing interest Bryce until there came a time when a big thump came from nowhere as if someone or more likely a group of people landed on the carpet floor, he could hear grunting and moaning which looked liked someone was hurt.

“Enzo stay with me,” a girl said but it wasn’t just a girl, it was his sister Lavander with deep concern lacing her words. Bryce anticipated strongly to what was happening, excitement and hope came clinging in his mind. It was the first time he heard his sister’s voice and it was just the refreshment he needed to strive harder to come out of his coma.

“Lavander I think you better get help,” a boy said who seemed to be struggling with his words, he yelped in pain as if his landing wasn’t great.

Bryce heard the door opened then her sister running, a few minutes later he heard the sound of wheels turning and the doctors coming for help, there was just so much anticipation going on but Bryce didn’t hear his sister talk, he was terrified she wasn’t in the room anymore. The medics kept on talking about what to do and orders to the nurses but it was Lavander’s voice he was looking for.

Everything went fast, first thing his sister came in from nowhere, a bunch of medics came in the room and then they were rushing everybody to the intensive care unit. Once the door to his room was shut everything fell silent, Bryce waited for his sister to return to him but she never came back. He was so full of hope that they were reunited but it seemed that she didn’t even saw him with the commotion going on.

With all his might Bryce tried again to move a part of his body, the voice of his sister motivated her. He focused on his right hand alone with deep focus. He felt pins and needles by the tip of his pinky finger which was great news. The sense of touch was returning to him at a snail pace, but with one mighty push he was able to move his pinky fingers slowly back and forth. He wasn’t about to give up now.
