"Wake up, Em! It's Monday! Time for school," Momma yelled up to me. I felt like I was dead. I was completely exhausted from this weekend. "Get up!" she yelled again.

I finally got the motivation to at least move off my bed and onto the floor. I smiled as I felt the floor's warmth. I had been freezing all night because of the outrageous level the AC was set to. It felt like I was in a meat locker. Ew.

After about twenty minutes of getting ready and eating breakfast, I was out the door. Getting to school wasn't a big deal on my agenda, but today, it was. My bus was ten minutes late, so I decided to call SOMEONE to pick me up and take me to school. I was going to be late...for the first time of all the years I went to school. Finially after another five minutes of waiting, the bus finally came.

As I stepped on the bus, the bus driver convinced me that there was traffic. No one drove on this road! How in the world was there traffic? I blew him off as he tried to talk to me. I am not dealing with this today. I have never been late for school, and you have blown it. I kept a grim expression on my face the whole bus ride. Hunter wasn't on the bus anymore since Brett offered him rides every morning, but me. What a friend. I didn't know if it was just the bus driver that had pissed me off or something else, but I was in no mood today. And if anyone couldn't walk fast enough in the halls, I was going to explode.

I had, in fact, gotten my first late slip...ever. In a way, I felt quite badass. But then again, I was late and that was a tardy. Great

I slept with my head on the desk throughout my first period class. I was tired. If anyone was going to wake me up, I'd kill them.

I felt a slight tap on my shoulder. I turned my head to the left and noticed Kacey.

"You okay?" she asked concerningly. I shook my head no. "Bad morning?" I nodded. "Well, not to make anythin' worse, but we need to talk." I nodded again and closed my eyes for the rest of class.

We sat outside our second period class, study hall. She fiddled with her phone in her hands and once the warning bell rung, everyone was in their classrooms; we stayed in the hallway.

"So, why'd Avery leave?" I asked, the first of us to speak. She looked up and starred at me for quite some time. She sighed and then leaned her head against the wall.

"Avery's a good guy, Em. He-he just didn't like it here. He has had some trouble at home and thought it would be best to move to Georgia. Days and days, he complained about it here. He hated our school. But he was gunna stay for you. Eventually, he gave up and in and went back home. I mean, I hate this place as much as him, but I've known these people since elementary and middle school. He's new and he was just being childish. Plus, I hate to say...but he missed his ex-girlfriend. He thought moving solves everything, but he broke up a good relationship. He's a good guy. Just too good for Georgia."

I could see where he was being childish. Ugh. I was really starting to like him too. Damn. I nodded my head and mentioned a few things to him about her. We sat there for awhile and just talked. After our little conversation, I rested my head on my bag and took a power nap. I never understood why they called them "power naps." When I woke up from this so called power nap, I felt drained of my energy. I was still exhausted. Those weird phrases or whatever sometimes never make sense.

The rest of my day, up until ninth period, was boring and tiring. I was still pretty exhausted from even coming to school. It was a Monday. Nobody liked Mondays. If we started school on Tuesdays, everything would be alright. Mondays are just Mondays and horrible.
