As I ran to the dorms, I told myself I wouldn't freak out like last time. I mean, I know how I feel about Draco. But it's just the fact of telling him and him getting the satisfaction of saying, "I told you so," was what made me crazy.
But, it had to be done.
As I neared the comfort of the common room, I felt my whole body go numb of the remembering of the look in Hermione's eyes. It was then I realized I wasn't the only one with feelings for Ron.
But ever since we started dating, I realized I really only had a tiny crush on Ron. Sure, he was definitely sweet and an amazing person, but he just wasn't for me. I knew I had to break it with Ron, but I didn't have the energy to do it now.
And I knew I had to ask Hermione for forgiveness and tell her how I really feel about Ron so she can be with him.
I knew I had to do a lot of things.
Just then, a flashback washed over me like a stream of water.
_______________{The Yule Ball}_______________
Below me, I watched Hermione glide down the staircase. She looked absolutely ravishing in her dress, so, of course, when the Harry and Ron saw her, their eyes bulged and their mouths dropped open.
I was so happy, I wasn't even jealous that Ron nearly had a heart attack of how beautiful Hermione looked. But then again, maybe I wasn't jealous because they started fighting soon after.
Next was Ginny. She was stunning, as always. As she descended the steps, she earned a brotherly smile from Ron and a nervous smile from Harry. I smirked at this.
And as I came down the stairs, I didn't expect for anyone to still be there besides George (he was my date). But I was surprised as everyone was still crowding the bottom of the stairs.
I chuckled as George clutched his chest and pretended to have a heart attack. I got excited smiles from Ginny and Hermione. A warm one from Harry as he mouthed, "You look beautiful, sis." And from Ron. . . a shocked look.
I felt my heart drop a little, but I shook it off. I would not have a bad time at this ball tonight. As I stepped off the last step, Ginny hugged me and told me how gorgeous I looked, and I squealed along with Hermione.
"W-wow, Hay," George stuttered, "you look absolutely breath-taking." He handed me a small red rose.
I turned as scarlet as the flower.
I did have to admit, I looked pretty good. My dress was pale green with gold along the neckline, on my shoulders, and around my waist. It made its way to the ground where the very bottom was tipped with small roses.
My silver three-inch heels weren't really exciting, but they made it so I didn't have to tip back my head that far to see George.
My necklace that I always wear went surprisingly well with the dress. It was a simple gold locket and inside were a picture of my parents. Whenever I opened it, I was greeted by their smiling faces. It was like they were with me whenever, and wherever, I had it on.
"Thanks," I replied to George. I took his hand and shouted, "Who's ready to party?"
Everyone laughed and nodded their heads and we all filed into the Great Hall.
George and I danced all night and I couldn't have been happier. Sure, we pulled a few pranks, but what do you expect? It's me and George, for Pete's sake!
As we finally headed back to the dorms, I realized how much fun I had and how long it had been since I had felt like that.
I knew I would never forget that moment.
Never.
_______________{Present}_______________
I clutched my abdomen as I broke out into sobs.
I had never been that happy ever since that night.
Well, until Draco kissed me.
As I walked into the girls' dorm and collapsed on the bed, I realized how tired I was.
Not a second after my head had rested on the pillow, I fell asleep, dreaming of those gorgeous gray eyes that I have learned I loved.
