Chapter 8 (Part 2)

I had the day off today, so I decided to stay home and have a lazy day. Kaneki has been out with Hide the whole time, so it hasn't been hard at all to relax. I wasn't used to having the apartment all to myself, but I took full advantage of it. I had just gotten out of the bath when I looked at my phone. 9:00 pm. It was getting late. I decided to message Ken while I was getting dressed. Ten minutes had passed with no reply, so I texted Hide instead.

Faye: Hey Hide! When are you getting Kaneki home?

I sat on the couch and stared at the ceiling. I'm so bored! Suddenly, my phone went off, alerting me that I had a new message.

Hide: What do you mean?

I sat there confused as I texted back.

Faye: He's not with you?

Hide: Oh! Yeah, he's here with me. Um.. I'll have back home soon. Don't worry!

'What's up with him?' I thought. He's lying to me, I can tell. Hide was always a terrible liar. Before I could text back, I got a call from Touka.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Faye?" she asked.

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Um, I know it's none of my business, but I know you'd want to know this," she said hesitantly.

"Shoot," I giggled.

"It's your roommate. He's with Rize. I wasn't going to do anything, but he's you're friend, and I know you care for him. I'd want someone to tell me if it were Yoriko-chan."

I was speechless, my good mood completely replaced with shock, anger, and betrayal.

"Faye?"

"That bastard! He's going to get himself killed!" There was silence at the other end. "Thank you, Touka-chan. You're a great friend! Excuse me now!" I hung up as I ran out the door, calling a 'friend' of mine.

I know this is low, but I have no other choice. I can't do this alone, and I know someone who's up for some fun.

The phone rang a few times before someone finally answered. I was already picking up Kaneki's scent.

"Hey, Souta? It's me, Faye. Yeah, it's about Rize... She's made her move."

I can smell him; he's so close! I just kept running, jumping from roof to roof. All of a sudden, I smell his blood, and hear him scream in pain.

I hope I'm not too late!

As I stood on the edge of the building, I looked down into the alley, targeting Rize's glowing kagune.

"-It never occurred to you, did it?" Rize said. "That I am a ghoul! Kaneki-san, you're making me shudder!"

I'd had enough of her. She was tearing down everything that I had built in order to protect Kaneki. If she thought that she was going to make him realize ghouls were real, and kill him in the same damn night, she is sorely mistaken!

Kaneki was running now. Well, he was until Rize grabbed him with her limb, resulting in Kaneki stabbing her with a pen in an attempt to escape. I don't know what was said between them because I had already jumped off the building, releasing my kagune, and landed behind Rize. She turned around, smirking at me.

"Faye-chan! How nice of you to join us!" she cheered as she stabbed Kaneki right through the stomach, picking him up, and slinging him into the nearby wall.
