Prologue
"Carter!" Sabrina screamed at the top of her lungs. "Carter, baby, I'm sorry!" She screamed after him as he made his way through her apartment. His mind was boggling and he didn't know what to do with himself. The only woman he'd ever loved had done something to him that hurt him to his core. He couldn't even look at her.
Sabrina grabbed a hold of his hand stopping him in his tracks. He wanted to yank his hand out of her grip but he didn't want to hurt her. Though she'd hurt him without a second thought he couldn't do the same. Carter watched Sabrina open her mouth to plead with him again, but this time he couldn't take it anymore.
"No, Brina, you don't have to apologize no more. I don't know what was going through that head of yours. Did you even think of me when you did that?" Carter asked trying his best not to cuss or yell at the woman he loved. Though what she did to him hurt his soul, he couldn't find himself talking to her any kind of way. Especially while looking in those dark brown eyes that he loved.
"Of course I was. But I already knew your answer. I had to think about my future! You weren't even there for me when I needed you the most Carter. What was I supposed to do?!" Carter bit into his bottom lip and clenched his fists tightly. Before he did anything he would greatly regret, he turned and left her apartment with his hands still clenched and anger bubbling inside of him.
