Chapter 14 | Heartfelt Memories
Sabrina curled up on the loveseat in her apartment and let the tears out. While her parents were planning the funeral she'd been trying to figure out how she'd be able to survive without him. She depended on Robert more than she allowed herself to believe.
For the past few days there was some healing done within her. Carter was able to come down for a couple of days to be with her and, even against Carter's will, the sex they had was amazing. It was a great way to get her mind off of everything that was going on.
She didn't try to dwell into her feelings anymore because she knew that her tears were dried up by the amount of times she cried daily. Everyone has been loving and there for her especially Brit and Chance. She was grateful for everyone that she could count on throughout everything that has been going on.
The sound of the doorbell took Sabrina out of her thought and she stretched before climbing off of the chair which she'd be camping out on since yesterday. Sabrina toon her time getting to the door but when she looked through the peephole she regretted taking her time.
Sabrina opened the door and they just looked at each other. She was able to see the similar pain in his eyes as had been in hers since the day she found out. "Hey Columbus," Sabrina said barely audible.
"I'm so sorry Sabrina." She knew he was on the verge of tears from the sound of his voice. She took a step to him and his arms wrapped around Sabrina securely pressing her face against his chest. Once he'd heard the news he came as soon as he could with both of Sabrina's drinks in hand.
Once they parted Sabrina wiped away the extra tears from her face and gave him a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Thank you for coming Chris, you know you didn't have to come."
"I wanted to, Robby was one of the few people I trusted in this world." Chris said reminiscing about them growing up together. He realized now that Robert treated him as a brother even before he dated Sabrina in college. "I bought you some drinks." Chris stated as he lifted his arms high enough for Sabrina to draw her attention to him.
A bigger smile grew on her face this time reaching her eyes as she grabbed the gin. It was something that she needed to relax a little because she hadn't had anything to drink the past six days. "You're awesome." She said as she grabbed the gin and motioned Chris to put the white zinfandel on the counter.
"How have you been holding up?" Chris asked as he poured a drink for each of them and followed Sabrina back into the living room.
"I've been getting better... my greatest fear is that I won't ever be able to fully heal."
"It's hard I can tell you that for sure. There are going to be times where you want to call him but you won't be able to." Chris said looking into the distance so he wouldn't tear up.
"That's how you feel about Monica?" Sabrina asked curiously. When his aunt died when they were in tenth grade, Sabrina was there for him of course but didn't bring up the subject much. When Christopher didn't make eye contact with her she knew that was exactly what he was thinking about. She scooted closer to him and rubbed his arm to get him back on his usual happy self.
"Thanks Sabrina." He kisses her forehead and filled his glass again. "If Robert was here he'd slap be aside my head and call me a pussÿ." They laughed tougher and agreed completely.
"Remember in middle school when he got expelled for trying to set Stephanie's hair on fire?" Sabrina said through a fit of chuckles.
"He's lucky they didn't press charges." Chris said through his own chuckles. "Remember when he got his tattoo?" Sabrina choked on the gin that was going down her throat from laughing at the memory. He was on the verge of crying and declared to never get a tattoo.
"I thought he was going to fight the tattoo artist."
"He was making plans to when I played ball with him and his friends." Sabrina laughed and shook her head carelessly as she filled up her glass once again.
"He was so crazy sometimes. Crazy and brave." She laid her head on the back of the couch and she remembered the tender moments between Robert and her. "I'm going to miss him." Sabrina said with a sigh before chugging down the rest of her drink. She filled her cup with the clear liquid once again.
"Sabrina, be careful. I'm not here to turn you into an alcoholic." Chris said putting the bottle of liquor beside him and filled up his glass before closing the bottle.
"Don't worry about that." She said as she drunk half of the glass and laid her head in the back of the couch again. "I won't disappoint Robert that bad." Sabrina said as reality hit her once again. She'd never had such an immense pain before, even when she was kidnapped in high school. This was far beyond any physical pain that she could ever encounter.
Christopher picked up on the sudden mood change and grabbed the television remote. "How about we watch Grease?" He asked already going to Netflix on the television.
"I know you hate Grease."
"And I know you love it. I'm here to make you feel better Brina." Chris said as he got comfortable and kicked his legs up unto the coffee table. "It can't be as bad as I remember." Sabrina threw him the side-eye for talking about her all-time favorite musical. She was introduced to the musical as a child and loved it even though she didn't realize how sexual the movie was until she grew older.
Aside from his obvious no taste in good quality entertainment, she had to give it to him that they movie did make her feel better. It came with great heartfelt memories of when Robby used to sing along with Danny Zuko whenever she was feeling down. She couldn't even help herself when it came time for Those Magic Changes which was her favorite song in the entire musical.
"I should go before I end up falling asleep from that horrible movie," Chris trashed as he stood up with Sabrina in tow, cutting into her thoughts.
"I don't want people who doesn't know talent in my apartment anyway." Sabrina said as she stretched and yawned. "Thank you for everything Columbus.
"I know you'd do the same for me." He said into their parting embrace.
"Hopefully won't have to do that anytime soon." Sabrina said with a light chuckle to pick up the mood that seemed to be descending back to a depressed feel.
"I second that." He said smiling down at Sabrina. She wasn't a petite woman by any means, but in comparison to his six foot three frame, she looked tiny. He looked into her eyes and the painful ones that met him when he opened the door was now mixed with some of the usual joy that typically filled her dark brown eyes.
Chris' head inched downwards and before he was fully aware of what he was doing, his lips captured Sabrina's in his. The kiss brought back feelings that neither of them had felt for one another for years.
The kiss deepened and soon Chris lifted Sabrina into his arms and instinctively Sabrina wrapped her legs around his waist. He carried her into the bedroom as they pulled apart every so often to take off their clothes.
Chris threw a naked Sabrina unto the bed and stripped out of his shorts and boxers before coming over Sabrina. He took her lips into his once again as he directed his díck into her opening and pushing in.
