Magnus awoke with Alec against his chest. It was probably late morning, and Magnus didn't have any clients today.

Alec rarely slept this late, so Magnus decided to let him sleep. Carefully moving Alec off him, he tucked a pillow under Alec's head.

Alec stirred but, to Magnus' relief, he didn't wake.

Magnus pulled bacon and a few other things out of the fridge.

"Alec. Alec." Magnus whispered and shaked Alec gently. He jumped up, immediantly in Shadowhunter mode.

"Magnus? What's wrong? What time is it?" Alec looked around.

"Nothing's wrong, honey. It's 11:30. I made breakfast." Magnus gave the plate of food to Alec.

"Oh. Thank you, babe." Alec and Magnus ate and drank orange juice.

Alec stopped laughing. "I missed this."

"Me too." Magnus held his hand from across the table.

Alec sat next to Isabelle at Taki's, and Simon sat next to her. Across from them was Clary and Jace.

They didn't order much, just some sodas and a few appetizers to share.

The chatter at the table was lively. Jace and Alec didn't speak.

"So how's Magnus?" Clary turned her attention to Alec. "I haven't gone over to see him in a while."

Alec peaked a look at Jace. His nostrils flared as be pretended to be interested in the menu. He got angry at the topic of Magnus, so Alec brought it up a lot. But it seemed Clary was honestly curious, which Alec found amusing that it was bugging Jace so much.

"He's good. Pretty busy with clients." Alec told her.

"Are you sure he's not sleeping with those clients?" Jace put his menu down.

"Jace!" Clary scolded him. Isabelle looked shocked.

Without a word, Alec slid out of the booth and made his way to the bathroom.

Leaning on the counter. He let the tears fall. Of course, he had thought about that. He had pushed the thought away, however, as soon as it popped into his head.

He couldn't imagine what he would do if Magnus did... that ... again.

After a minute, Alec washed his face and walked back out. Sliding back into the booth, Alec avoided eye contact with everyone.

He knew they were looking at him, but chose to ignore them and looked at the menu.

"I thought you had resorted to climbing out the bathroom window." Jace smirked.

"No. Instead I broke it to use the shards to cut your throat." Alec shot back.

Isabelle looked torn. Which brother should she defend?

Clary tapped her foot angrily.

"I'd like to see you try." Jace snarled.

"I wouldn't go near you, Jace." Alec stated. When Jace smirked triumphantly, he continued. "I'm afraid you'll kiss me again." Clary's eyes jumped out of her skull.

"What?" Her and Isabelle said in unison. Simon gawked.

"Oh, Jace didn't tell you?" Alec narrowed his eyes at Jace. "He kissed me." Jace shook his head.

"He's lying."

Alec laughed. "Am I? Remember, I came back to the Institute, it was probably four in the morning." Jace went pale as Alec continued.

"I'm sure you remember, Little Brother. You pushed me against the wall, threw your hands in my hair. I tried to push you away, remember that? Put you were persistent."

Jace was lost for words. He ran out of Taki's quickly. Clary jumped out and ran after him.

"Did he really kiss you?" Isabelle asked quietly.

"Yup. He was trying to prove that I still loved him." Alec answered honestly.

"Damn." Simon muttered.

"I'm sorry. I know you just wanted to have lunch, Izzy." Alec said.

She breathed out. "It's okay. Some things just need to be said, right?" Isabelle turned he attention to the menu, bu Alec could tell she was still angry.

After lunch, Alec didn't feel like going to the Institute. Or Magnus'. He just needed time to be alone and think.

Walking to the bridge, Alec drew a glamour rune on himself.

He climbed quickly, and it had only been fifteen minutes by the time he made it to the top.

Sitting in the same spot he had a couple days ago, Alec stared down at the dark, churning water below him.

He wondered if it would kill him if he jumped. Of course it would take a mundie, but could it take a Shadowhunter's life?

Alec scooted closer to the edge of the steel. The water was cold, very cold, he knew. But it just seemed like a nice thought to be submerged in something other than sadness and regret.

Alec scooted closer to the edge again. With every second he was there the water looked better and better.

It was beautiful, in a strange way. In a deadly and cunning way.

He breathed out once, twice.

"Magnus," he said aloud. "I love you. I'm sorry. Forgive me."

Then, he jumped.
