Magnus awoke on the couch, Alec clutched tightly in his arms. The nights events replayed in his head. Magnus flinched. He couldn't think about losing Alec anymore.
Alec stirred. "Magnus." He said, as if he was calling out to him. "Magnus!"
"Im here, I'm right here." Magnus grabbed Alec's hand. He relaxed immediantly and drifted off to sleep on Magnus' chest.
He awoke a few hours later, as Magnus played with a strand of his hair. "Good Morning." Magnus said. Alec grumbled a tired response, sitting up and stretching his arms upward.
"I should go to the Institute." Alec said.
"I'll walk you."
"You don't have to."
"I want to." That wasn't necessarily true. Magnus couldn't leave Alec alone. When he got to the Institute, Isabelle and Clary would be there. He didn't trust Jace, of course. But after last night, Magnus wanted to tell Isabelle to watch Alec.
They got to the Institute and met Isabelle, Clary, and Jace in the kitchen. Jace didn't say anything. Clary and Isabelle said hello.
Magnus shot a secretive glance at Isabelle. Kissing Alec goodbye, Magnus walked out of the kitchen. Luckily Isabelle understood the look he gave her, because she followed him out into the hallway.
"What do you need?" she asked him as he walked towards the front door.
"You need to watch Alec. Don't leave him alone, okay?"
"Why not?"
Magnus took a deep breath. "He jumped off the bridge last night."
She gasped. "And - he lived? How-" he broke her off.
"I caught him." She chewed on her bottom lip.
"Okay." She said.
"Don't tell him I told you. And don't make it obvious that you're watching him." She nodded, and Magnus left the Institute.
Magnus went back to his loft, and prepared for a client he had in an hour.
Three annoying clients and many hours later, Magnus checked his cell phone. Alec had texted him.
Hey babe. Idk what your schedule is, but if you have an opening, I could bring lunch? Let me know. Love u
AlecMagnus texted back, and Alec showed up at the door a half hour later, with to-go bags from Taki's.
They ate sushi and after several failed attempts, Alec gave up on using chopsticks. Magnus, on the other hand, used them perfectly.
"How do you do that?" Alec asked him.
Magnus shrugged. "I spent a few decades in China." Alec nodded.
After lunch, Magnus didn't have any more clients for another hour.
"So what does your next client need?" Alec asked.
"Not sure. Some faerie said he needed to 'meet in person'." They sat on the couch watching the news. A story came on about a mundie murdered in the city. Apparently they have no suspects.
"It was a Raum demon." Alec said. "The kid was only 15." His voice was sad.
Magnus layed his head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry."
