[A/N: sorry I haven't updated recently, I've been busy with school, cosplay, and catching up on sleep, and overall just being too lazy to continue. I'll try to do better, but no guarantees!]
John's POV:
Friday, finally. It's been a week since your birthday party, meaning that it's been a week since Dave and Dirk had joined your school. Maybe you have warmed up to them a little, seeing how you can now have conversations with the both of them and actually know a little more of their personalities?
Last night, you and Vriska were texting back and forth for hours on end on Pesterchum, and with little to no regrets you stayed up until you couldn't take it anymore. You also began texting her as soon as you woke up. Vriska...she can be a little self-centered and a little full of herself, but besides that she can be a nice person to talk to. If you have any sob stories, she can usually state her opinion and make you get over whatever it is that you couldn't get over before.
So, tired and ready for the end of the day again, you slump over to first period, your eyes begging you to close them, and your head is tipping down. It's as if there are weights attacking your eyelids, and you just want to give in, but you know that you can't do that. It's not that you want to stay awake in school, but you'd prefer not to bring attention to yourself.
Dave comes in the classroom after you're already in your seat. He slides his book bag off of his shoulder, then stretches his back out a little. He then turns his body around to face you, and by this point you have decided to lay down until the morning bell rings for class to start. "Goodmorning, John's corpse." The Strider said jokingly.
You don't sign back a reply, you just give a little wave with your fingers.
"It looks like someone had a late one last night." He leaned back in his seat, streaming his fingers through his blond bangs, revealing some of his forehead and eyebrows. He then set out his binder and got out a pencil, preparing for math to start.
You sit up, feeling as if you're about to dive into a deep sleep that not even the teacher would be able to wake you from. You decide that if you're going to be awake, you should at least make conversation. You slightly tap Dave's shoulder to get his attention, then replied, hands moving slower than what you usually do. "Yeah, I was awake late last night. Sue me."
"Okay, but I have a pretty good lawyer. Then I'll have all your money while you're broke as shit." He then goes off into one of his little rambles, but you're used to it by now. You've had another class with him where you've gotten to talking to him some more, and it's typical of him to go on these tangents.
Finally, you stop him and he gets the point. You silently snicker at this, and suddenly you have a thought. You never did thank him for helping you the previous day, despite having seventh period with him. "Thanks for saving my butt yesterday."
Dave's eyebrow raised for a second, as if caught off guard somehow. "Oh, yeah. No problem. That guy was a jerk." You glance to the kid who sat in front of Dave, who probably had no idea that you were talking about him. You're just thankful that nothing happened between you and Jack or Jack and Dave this morning. Things could have gotten ugly if Dave confronted him again, but then again Dave had told him off the day before, so there would be no reason to tell him off again.
You grin, and right then the annoying bell goes off, and Mr. Milkshake shuts the classroom door to begin his lecture.
The next class period, you and Dirk had some good conversations about random bullshit instead of whatever was going on in the classroom, but you didn't mind, and neither did Dirk. Sometimes, when you were texting Vriska, however, it seemed like Dirk would try to catch a glimpse at your phone, so you kind of scrunch up your nose to show your distaste with that, and move your phone to the side furthest from him.
