Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight:

I wake up to knocking on my door. I sit up about to get out of bed and open the door but I grab my phone instead. I check my messages and I don’t have any. Great, he hates me and thinks that I left because of him. Way to go Holly, the boyfriend that you can see yourself with for a long time is gone because of you, I think. I sigh and go over to my door and open it.

“Kyle what the hell?!”

“Good morning little sister!” he chimes.

“What do you want? Its….eight in the morning!”

He smiles. “Come on Kim is almost done making breakfast.”

“Kyle you son of a¾ ”

“Breakfast is ready!” Kim calls. I narrow my eyes at him as I walk downstairs and into the dining room. I sit down across from Kim and Kyle kisses my head and Kim’s cheek before sitting down.

“So Holly, I was thinking that we could go shopping today, have some girl fun.”

I smile. “Sounds great.” she smiles and we all eat. After eating I run upstairs to change and do my hair and makeup. I grab my purse and throw my phone in it as I head downstairs. We get into Kim’s convertible and she heads towards town but turns onto the highway and we head to a mall.

Once at the mall we head inside and walk into a clothing store. We look around and we both find about two bags full of clothes. We make our way to Maurice’s and end up leaving with four bags for each of us. We go into three more clothing stores and I get a few sun dresses. We go into a shoe store and I get six pairs of shoes and Kim gets four.

“Having fun Holly?” Kim asks.

“Yes, I am. I needed a girl’s day out.”

“Glad I could help.”

“Kim, do you think that Taylor doesn’t want to talk to me?”

“I think that he doesn’t know how to react to what happened.”

“I didn’t mean to shut him out like I did. I was upset and he reminded me so much of….I didn’t know what to do.”

“Holly its okay, its completely understandable.”

“He doesn’t know about it so there is no way that he could understand.”

“I’m just suggesting this, but maybe you should tell him.”

“I should, but I don’t know how. Its not something that is easy for me to talk about.”

“I know.”

“Yeah, but he isn’t even answering my calls or texts now.”

“Go see him.”

I look down. “I don’t know where he lives.”

“I do. I’m his sister’s best friend.”

I smile. “Do you think you could bring me there?”

“Sure of course. When do you want to go?”

“Can we go after we go home and drop all of our stuff off?”

“She smiles. “Sure.”

“Thanks.”

“No problem sweetie.” she drives us home and I bring my stuff into the house. I take a quick shower and then put on my favorite pair of jeans and a V-neck red shirt that I just got. I straighten my diamond necklace and look in the mirror fixing my hair.

I run down the stairs and tell Kim that I am ready to go. We get back into her car and she drives me to Taylor’s house. I make myself a mental note of how to get to his house just so that I know. Once at his house I go up to the front door and ring the doorbell. A few minutes later Taylor answers the door sopping wet.

“Hi.” he says.

“Hey, can we talk?”

“Sure.” I wave to Kim and step inside Taylor’s house. The inside is modern but very homey. I follow Taylor and we end up outside in his backyard at his pool. He sits down at a table with five other chairs and an umbrella above the entire table. I sit down in the chair next to his.

“About the other day….” I start.

“What happened?”

“W-hat?”

“What happened the other night Holly?”

“I’m sorry.” I whisper.

He sighs, “Holly I’m not mad at you I just want to know what happened that’s all.”

“You scared me.”

“I scared you?” I nod.

“How?”

“Pulling me towards you the way that you did, it just it really scared me. I cant explain why, it just did.” I look away from him. I hear him get out of his chair and he is in front of me, bending down so he can look me in the eyes.

“I scare you?”

I close my eyes and still don’t look him. “Sometimes.”

“Whatever I do to scare you I don’t mean to.”

“I know.”

“Its not only you.” I whisper.

“What is it?”

“It’s not only things that you do. It can be something that someone I don’t even know does and it will scare me.”

“Hol¾ ”

“My brother even scares me sometimes.”

He takes my hands in his and gently pulls me up into a hug. “Whenever you get scared just tell me okay?” I nod still in his embrace. He rubs my back gently soothing me.

“I called you a few times and texted you.” I say.

“Yeah about that, my phone is trashed.”

“What happened?”

“A had a few of my buddies over and Danny drunk as usual thought it would be funny to take my phone away from me. Well long story short it ended up in the pool, so I don’t have a phone for three more days.”

“Which reminds me, my parents are having a party that I have to go to on Friday and I was hoping that you would be my date?” he says.

“Where is the party?”

“Here. Its not very formal but you do have to dress up a little.”

“Are you sure? I mean I don’t want to intrude on their party.”

“Holly its fine, I asked my parents if it would alright if you came. Some of my friends will be there too and you can meet them. Plus you have to meet my parents.” he smiles.

“Meeting the parents already, how serious are you Taylor!” we both laugh. “I already know your parents.”

“Yeah, but you haven’t seen them in years so it is like you are meeting them for the first time.”

“Damn how serious are you really?” I give him a serious look.

“Not too serious but Holly I love being with you and I want us to stay together and I hope that you feel the same way.”

“I do, believe me I do feel the same, but I have to take this relationship slow. If I don’t we wont be able to have a relationship.”

“Why?”

“I cant exactly tell you, its too hard to.” Some tears form in my eyes.

“Don’t cry Holly. We can take things as slow as you want.”

“Thanks. I have so many feelings for you that I’m scared if I let them all out…..it’ll hurt one or both of us.”

“Its okay Holly.” I wrap my arms around his neck tight and he holds me until I let go.
