Chapter Ten:

I close my purse immediately without checking my phone.

“What is it Holly?”

“My brother is going to pay when I get home.”

“What did he do?” I hand him my purse and tell him to open it. His eyes go wide.

“I’m going to kill him.” I say.

“Does he really think that we are having sex?”

“Apparently. But let him think what he wants. He thinks that we are sleeping together, fine. And I’m sleeping in the same room and same bed as you. I don’t give a shit what my brother says.”

“You don’t have to because of him.” I undo my seatbelt and turn to face him.

“Taylor, I’m going to be eighteen in six months and I’m so sick of him telling me what to do. I can make my own decisions without him interfering. He thinks that I have made some bad decisions but I haven’t. What’s happened this past year wasn’t my fault at all but he thinks otherwise.”

“I’m not judging you or any of your decisions even though I don’t know them. But Holly I’m here if you need to talk about anything.”

I lean over and hug him. “Thank you Taylor.”

He smiles. “We should get to the party, my parents want to see you.” he gets out and rushes over to my side to get my door. He helps me out of his jeep. I take hold of his hand as he leads me up into his house.

Inside there are few people but as soon as we reach his backyard there are tons of people. Some our age, some a little older and some that are much older. Not old, old, but as in as old as my parents.

Once outside we stop walking and Taylor looks around for his parents. While he is looking for them I spot a few people that I remember seeing at the bonfire when I first ran into Taylor. Most of the guys and girls were ones that I saw at the bonfire that weren’t drinking, a few are here that were drinking.

“Oh there they are.” I let go of his hand. He puts his hand on the small of my back and guides me to over to his parents.

“Do I have to?” I whine.

“Yes and you don’t have to let go of my hand, they know.”

I grab his arm and then his hand. “They know?”

“Yeah, my sister spilled the news.”

“Ah man!” I whine.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, I just don’t…..I don’t know.” I sigh.

He pulls me to him and kisses me gently. “Feel better now?” I nod and we continue heading towards his parents.

“Mom, Dad, you remember Holly Livingston. Holly these are my parents Erica and Jason.”

“Hi.” I say quietly.

“Hi sweetie, do you remember us?” his mom asks.

“Yeah.” His mom hugs me and I hug her back.

“How have you been?”

I debate on whether I should answer but I say, “I’ve been good. Coming here this summer has really made a difference from back home.”

“I take it that a good thing?” his dad asks.

I smile. “Yes.”

“That’s great! We’ve talked to your parents and it seems that they will be coming for the wedding but they have to leave in the morning the day after and don’t want you to have to leave early and so I suggested that you could stay here and they said that’s fine. Is that alright with you?”

“Yeah, that’s perfectly fine with me.” I squeeze Taylor’s hand.

“Perfect! Well you two have fun!” his mom says and they leave us alone. Well not completely alone since there are tons of people here but still.

“So what do you want to do?” Taylor asks.

“Hmm, well what did you have planned?”

“I promised my friends that I would let them meet you so I suppose we should find them so I can introduce you to them.”

“Sounds good.” We maneuver our way through the crowd until he spots a few of his friends. We walk over to them and Taylor introduces me. I meet his best friend Andy, who he has known since kinder garden. Jake, who he also met in kinder garden. Rick, Mike, Eddie, Brandon, and Tommy. Then there are their girlfriends, and then his friends that are girls, Jess, Casey, Macy, Lucy, Bridget, Sarah, and Elle.

“Its nice to meet you all.” I say.

“Its nice to meet you too. You’re all he ever talks about.” Andy says.

I turn to look at Taylor as he blushing, “Oh really.”

“Damn Andy you just had to say something to embarrass me in front of my girl.” Taylor smiles.

“Sorry. And don’t worry Holly, I have plenty more things about Taylor that I could tell you.”

I laugh. “Oh please do!”

A cell phone rings. Its Taylor’s. “I’ll be right back, knowing my dad he wants me to meet some people. Take care of my girl for me?” he asks Andy.

“Of course.”

“I’ll be right back.” Taylor says before kissing my cheek.

“Go! I’ll be here.” I say as he disappears into the crowd

“So, what is there about Taylor that I don’t know?” I ask Andy.

“Plenty.” Andy’s girlfriend says.
