~Prologue~

She never pictured herself standing here at the rooftop of their school during that rainy afternoon of September. No, she’s not going to jump; she just wants to be alone at the moment and drown in her sorrows.

Amaryllis let out a heavy sigh and tilted her head upwards, letting the raindrops grace her face. A tear escaped her eyes once more, and her breath hitched.

This love…God, it hurt so much that she wanted to curse Light for the unbearable pain and nearly swear to never love again.

Light and Amaryllis have been lovers for almost a year now. They were happy and committed to each other, not until a spoiled brat in the form of a blonde model-slash-actress named Misa Amane entered the stage. In an instant, she became the queen bee of the popular clique, complete with her posse and a set of boys wanting and admiring her face caked with five layers of make-up. Amaryllis was aware of the rumors that Light was cheating on her but she quickly disregarded it because she loved him so much.

Well, not until that certain moment…

“Amy, can we talk for a while?”

“Yes, Light, what is it?”

“A-Amy, I…” He sighed and reached for her hands. “I’m sorry…but I believe this relationship is not working anymore.”

“W...What?” She inquired in a quiet whisper.

“I’m sorry Amaryllis, but our relationship needs to end.”

Before she could even speak, Light cut her off with a forceful kiss, and after what it seemed to be an eternity of numbness, their lips parted and their bond as lovers broke.

Amaryllis…

Light never called her by her true name; only when he is serious. So, does that mean that Light is serious about breaking their relationship?

A moment later, a tear escaped her eyes, and as she made her way down the hall, she found Light and Misa kissing passionately, their hands entwined together, as if letting them go would mean the world to them. It broke her heart, and she wished she could pierce her eyes out to stop the pain from continuing.

Her vision went blurry as a few raindrops entered her eyes, stinging it slightly. Suddenly, a hand covered her eyes and someone drag her away from the pouring rain. A small towel landed on her head and a warm jacket found their way on her shoulders.

“Studies show that majority of female suicides are caused by heart break.” A deep, monotone voice spoke behind her. “And it is proven true.”

It was like Amaryllis was snapped out from her thoughts. When she turned around to face the voice, she felt a sudden pang in her heart.

A tall man with sharp-looking midnight orbs lined with dark circles, snow-white skin and hair black as ebony but messy like a splatter of ink. But because of the rain, his hair was soaked a bit, and it appeared like a tamed raven.

“……Ryuzaki…”

Ryuzaki, the best friend of Light.

He only nodded in acknowledgement, his lips moving like he was speaking, but Amaryllis was unable to comprehend anything, and after a few seconds later, everything faded into black.

The only thing she could remember was the glint of concern she found in Ryuzaki’s eyes.
