[Act 1 - Page 2]
The next day, Amaryllis never found Ryuzaki.
She forgot to thank him properly for his kindness yesterday. During the recess period, she tried visiting him in his class. One of his classmates mentioned that he was sent to the school clinic, but when she asked the doctor in-charge, it appears that Ryuzaki left a while ago.
Does that mean...he's avoiding her?
Suddenly, she wanted to stop this Search-for-Ryuzaki thing and just cry.
Cry again.
Then she realized that crying was now one of her very unhealthy habits since it ruins her mood, makes her feel stressed and depressed. And Rue mentioned once that stress will surely worsen her situation.
The bell rang, indicating that break time is over. Instead of returning to her class, she ran towards the old library of the west wing. It was abandoned because the facility went under a consistent series of damage, and later on was renovated to be a stock room of old books and broken school furnitures.
It is out of character for her to visit such places, but she once stumbled across the room and found it very peaceful. It served as her solace everytime she's depressed; the sound of silence comforts her and the gentle hum of the wind makes her feel safe.
--
There were noises inside the abandoned library when Amaryllis reached for the doorknob. At this point, she could only assume that the rats found something to munch on. The thought made her smile, and she proceed to silently open the door and enter.
The munching noise went louder, combined with the sound of rusty hinges trying hard to create friction between the surfaces and continuous tapping of something. There were also some clanking of something, and Amaryllis began doubting about...rats.
She approached the nearest bookshelf and peeked behind it, trying to recognize what is making the creepy sounds.
It turned out that the 'rats' was actually Ryuzaki sitting on a weird position on a dusty plastic chair, a laptop on the wooden table while eating...cake.
So this guy was hiding here all the time.
Amaryllis was about to face him and question his reason for avoiding her when she tripped on a set of books and went tumbling down; the commotion sent other books flying around.
“Gah!” She screamed, and the large mess made Ryuzaki jumped off his seat. He stared at her for a moment, trying to figure out who is the intruder. Amaryllis shook her head and move to sit on the floor properly when an outstretched hand appeared in front of her.
“What are you doing there?” Ryuzaki asked as he help her up.
Instead of answering, she glared at him but looked away a moment after.
"Are...Are you avoiding me?"
He blinked. "What? Why should I be avoiding you?" She refused to answer, and this made him sigh and looked down on his cake that was now spoiled and scattered on the floor, his laptop humming the default tones of his computer. In a quiet manner, he started gathering his things and jamming it inside his duffle bag, looking sadly at the cake but cleaning it with a lot of tissue paper. Amaryllis just watch him move, but was startled when he headed for the door.
"Don't play dumb, Ryuzaki." She snapped at him, making the sweets-lover stop. "I mean...I mean...what happened last night...I-I believe it's a confession, and I want you to clarify what does that mean... and also-"
"Miss Amaryllis, you do clearly know you are rambling, right?" He interrupted, making her fume in annoyance. "I don't know what you are talking about."
"Cut the crap, Ryuzaki!!" There it goes again. She had enough of Ryuzaki's lies, especially now that these thoughts are driving her crazy and confused. "I'm awake last night, and I clearly heard what you told me! I'm not an idiot!"
That caught his attention. He tilted his head, showing his dark expression that made her shiver in fear. Did she pressed the wrong button? But she doesn't care anymore; she needed an explanation, even though everything seems to lose there sense.
"You want to know why I said those thing?" He asked in a slow and scary manner that made her nod automatically. "Fine. Those statements are true, since I cared about your feelings and yourself, and I hate it when that bastard dumped you for that bitch. Seeing you cry hurts me too, but I'll conceal it just so you wouldn't know." He faced the door again. "It seems that you wishes to be alone. I'll leave now."
A pale hand reached for the door knob, but a tug on his sleeve made him stop.
"Stay here, please."
Ryuzaki turned around, facing Amaryllis with a patient face. She already got what she wanted, right? What else does she wants? A straight-faced confession of love?
"Miss Amaryllis..."
"Please omit the 'Miss'. You're making me feel like I'm twenty-eight years old or something." Her smile betraying her stern statement. He smiled back, and walked towards her to give a friendly embrace. She gladly returned the gesture, leaning on his chest for support.
Amaryllis felt her sadness fade, now that she knows that someone is willing to be with her, and who knows, maybe she'll learn to love Ryuzaki, but not at this moment. Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day, but she'll make sure to write it down on her to-do list.
