"So x is equals to..."
Ryuzaki...
"And y is equals to..."
I wonder what he's doing now...
"Then find the square root of..."
I wonder if he's eating cake during classes? Or maybe sitting in that weird position?
"Miss Amaryllis..."
Ryuzaki, how many times do I have to tell you that omit the 'Miss'?
"Miss Amaryllis."
I said omit the-
"Amaryllis!!!"
"Huh?!"
Ms. Naomi Misora sneered at her. "Are you daydreaming in my class, again, Miss Amaryllis?" There were some snickers around, but Amy ignored them and instead rose from her chair and faced their terror teacher who pointed the unsolved problem written on the board. She stared at it for a moment, scribbled some solutions on her notebook and answered.
"X is equals to 752."
The class went silent and the teacher gave her a surprised look.
"Miss Amaryllis, is it possible that you are sneaking at my lesson plan?"
"Why would I do that, Misora-sensei? And will you please explain to me how will I be able to sneak at your lesson plan when I spent my free time away from school?"
"Then how did you got the correct answer within the frame of forty seconds?"
She hid a smirk. "I am studying in advance, Misora-sensei. Please don't mistaken me." With that, she sat down and the class went on.
Amaryllis grab her pen and started wrting down Ryuzaki's name, so it will appear that she's listening now and solving problems created by Ms. Misora. During her middle school years, Mathematics is her worst nightmare. Everytime her math teacher enters the room, it is either she'll be scared to the point of passing out or she'll be bored and won't listen. Now that she's in high school, she felt more than forced to study that subject, and it was annoying.
But after asking Ryuzaki to tutor her, she suddenly want to bite back her words that Mathematics is the worst subject ever existed. Or maybe it really is, but now, everything seemed to be easy for her.
During her free hours, she'll call him to teach her about different subjects. It strenghtened their bond as friends, and Amaryllis found that she no longer cared about Light dumping her.
Or sometimes, she'll say to her parents that Ryuzaki will teach her about her upcoming lessons, but when she arrived at his house, they will just have a pillow fight, a contest of insane stunts like eating a three-layered cake within fifteen minutes (Ryuzaki won, as usual), watch a movie of sorts, or sometimes, they will discuss anything about each other.
But there was one discussion that completely pushed Light out of the picture.

While Ryuzaki prepared his cake and Amaryllis prepared her sandwich, he abruptly asked a question that surprised her greatly.
"Do you still love Light?"
She blinked repeatedly before answering. "Do you think I still do? After all of what happened?"
"...No."
"Then my answer is similar to yours." She answered between bites.
"Hmm..."
"Why do you ask?"
"Nothing." He took a bite at the strawberry, the juice staining his pale lips. "What certain trait of Light you liked the best?"
"Well, he's intelligent and handsome. And he's not boring to talk to."
"That's correct." He paused to nibble his thumb and stare at his cake. Amaryllis narrowed her eyes, as if trying to read his mind to know what he is pondering about.
"Ryuzaki."
"Yes, Amy-chan?"
"Why are you asking these questions all of a sudden? Is there any particular topic you want to talk about? Oh, and please stop mentioning 'him'. And stop biting your fingers." She sat beside him and removed his poor thumb from his mouth.
"What is your preference when it comes to men, Amy-chan?"
It was uncalled for. Amaryllis blinked at the question, while Ryuzaki stared at her questioningly. After a few seconds, she turned away, trying to hide the blush that was forming in her cheeks.
"You're so blunt, you know that?"
"Hmm. That's a good way of denial. However-"
"Alright." She raised both of her hands as a sign of surrender. "I like men who can cope with my tantrums and whines, since my cases of mood swings are frequently taking place. I like men who knows what they are saying, and sensitive enough to know if there is a problem, whether mine or concerning with our relationship. I like men who are sweet but not clingy, have pride but not a bastard, ready to listen, and most of all, won't dump me for another girl who I considered as a walking doll with an overstuffed bra and five layers of make-up and a whiny attention whore."
The blush grew deeper while Ryuzaki listened carefully, absorbing the free knowledge like a sponge. And then he smiled.
Oh my goodness! Who would have thought that he's so...so cute when he smiled like that!
"W-Well...?"
"Hmm?"
"Is that enough? Or do you want me to elaborate?"
"That's not necessary, Amy-chan. But I want to know if physical attraction is a factor to be a candidate of your preferred men."
"Uhmm, no."
He smiled once more, and Amaryllis thought she might explode. "That is good to know."
"W-Why...?" She asked dumbly, even though the answer is very obvious.
"Do you mind if I court you, Amaryllis?"
