AN: I'm back!!!!! *glomps everyone*

I love you all, guys :D Thanks for coping up with my epic fail writer's block, especially DRD who went into special lenghts of hitting me with a roll of newspaper. D: But I still love her, because she's my lovely co-writer. ^_^

Without further ado, here's the latest installment of Can't Spell Love Without L.

[Act 3 - Page 1]

L eyed the computer screen with the least interest, his eyebrows knitting due to lack of interest. There is nothing to do except to wait for the airplane to reach its destination, which will gradually be more or less twenty hours. Just thinking of the time span that will produce nothing but boredom, L felt the danger lying in the hours of sitting in the cushioned chair of his private plane. Since there won't be internet connections during the trip, he did nothing but review his plans for tomorrow night. He knew that after he and Amaryllis parted, someone started an abominable murder spree that targeted Amaryllis' relatives, even those that are distant from her. When he researched the root of the murders, he found out that the first victim is connected to her grandfather in terms of surnames. Then the following victims are a bit unrelated, but still have connections in different aspects.

Ryuzaki clenched his fists at the thought of someone hurting her. But his rage turned into sudden sorrow when he remembered how he acted the night he thought would be the happiest ones of his lifeless life.

"L."

A tired sigh escaped his pale lips, and he lazily asked. "What is it, Watari?"

"You should sleep. The trip will take more or less a day, and the following events may consume your energy."

"But-"

"I don't need any reasoning, L. You will sleep or else, your sweets will be reduced."

He grimaced at the old man's threat, and he responded quietly. "Fine."

L straightened his back and leaned on the soft cushion. Soon, he found himself closing his eyes and the spell of sleep attacked his system, slowly shutting it down.

--

The road was eerily quiet; one could hear the dead walk. Amaryllis was walking down the street when she heard a sound of clinking metals behind her. She looked around suspiciously. No one was there, but she’s very certain that someone was following her. The gust of cold wind didn’t help either. She swallowed the lump in her throat and resumed walking. When the sound of footsteps were audible enough to reach her sense of hearing, she practically jumped and sprinted towards the end of street, where the lights are bright and surely, anyone will be able to help her. Her little feet already reached the turning point of the road, when suddenly, someone covered her mouth and nose, and within a split-second, her lithe frame collapsed on the cemented road. The last thing she saw before she went unconscious was the sharp, obsidian eyes looking down at her, as if calculating and reading her mind.

--

”Congratulations, Amaryllis. You won Light back.”

“I spent a lot of time impressing you, and this is what I get?”

“What do you want now?”

“After what you have done?”

“You never loved me.”

“You lied a lot.”

Lied... a...lot...

Liar...

“No...” She does not wish to hear those voices anymore.

Liar...

“Please...”

Liar...

“Ryuzaki...”

Liar...

“Please, stop!!!”

Liar!!!

“Amaryllis? Amaryllis! Wake up!”

She opened her eyes slowly, but her blurred vision made her unable to see the face of the voice. A cold hand wiped away the droplets that blocked her vision, and the face of Rue greeted her with a worried expression.

“Are you alright? You were crying in your sleep.”

“R-Rue? Where am I?” She scanned the room and saw the open window displaying a beautiful green field blooming with flowers of different colors. “What’s going on?”

“Hold a sec, one question at a time, please.” He smiled and continued. “Yes, I am Rue, and you are currently in Wammy’s House, here in Winchester and you are here because Ryuzaki told me to bring you here.”

“...” It took some time before Amaryllis absorbed what he said, and her mind panicked a bit. “What? Why?”

“As for the reason, it is because of the case I told you yesterday. You are in danger because of the inheritance that was placed in your name. A distant relative of yours wants to eliminate you so they will be able to transfer the money and properties your grandfather gave you into their name.”

Amaryllis was speechless for another moment after hearing the news. So she nearly died, but because of the red-eyed man and Ryuzaki...

“Wait a minute. Where’s Ryuzaki?”

Rue was silent, as if contemplating whether to tell her not. He chose to go silent.

“Well?” She asked impatiently.

“Uhmm...” He nervously sat down on the wicker chair near the bed. “...As you see...Ryuzaki instructed me not to tell you his current whereabouts.”

“B-But why? I just want to thank him!”

“Amy, you can thank him later. He’s still talking with a visitor downstairs—“Here, Rue realized his epic fail mistake and covered his mouth in a comical manner.

Without a word, Amaryllis jumped off the bed and quietly tiptoed down the stairs. A familiar voice reached her sense of hearing and she was about to steal a glance at the love of her life when a feminine voice spoke.

“I still love you, Ryuzaki.”

With those words, she felt her heart shatter once more.
