My hair swayed over my face, the ice cold water submerging my body. I tried to move but I couldn't, I look down to my ankles, chains holding me down giving me no room to move but just float around. I blew bubbles through my nose desperately trying to use my hands to float upwards. It was pitch black, the only scent I had was hearing. Hearing the faint screams coming from my throat as I gasped for oxygen. My lungs began swallowing water feeling my body slowly drift away. That's when I saw a body float pass my eyes, the familiar blonde hair and blue eyes, lifeless and drained.
I shot up gasping for air and screaming, to only be pulled back down by something. I was in a bed, running my fingers over the white fabric. My pants were coming in quick my chest falling and rising.
"She's awake!" I heard someone beside me call. I turned my head looking at my surroundings, peach coloured curtains trapped me in a small square. A hand peeled a curtain back and in walked Calum, Michael and Ashton. There eyes had no colour, they've been crying.
I panicked remembering Luke. I sat up, "Luke oh my god where is he?" I cried trying to remove the needles in my hands that were covered with tape.
The boys rushed to my side quickly pushing me back down making me gasp. "Let me go!" I shouted trying to get back up, my voice hurt.
"Shh it's okay Blake just calm down," Ashton ran his hand over my hair, his voice shaky. My eyes glared at the boys, angry that they wouldn't let me go.
"Where's Luke?" I cringed thinking of the worse. How long was I out for? What the hell was even happening?
"He's... Okay," Calum gave a small smile taking hold of my hand. I looked to my right elbow, a clean white bandage wrapped around it and some of my upper arm. My legs were cleaned and only the cuts remained, and my knee was in some sort of brace.
"Your arms been stitched up," Calum said rubbing circles on my palm relaxing my body slightly.
"How long have I-" I asked looking at all of the boys, I just wanted to hug them they all looked so sad.
"A few hours," Michael smiled holding my other hand. I nodded looking at the needles pumping some random substance into my body. I was dressed in a white gown, and my hair was let out. A monitor beeped beside my bed and felt something around my cheeks and my breathing was much clearer. I brought my hand up to my face feeling the rubber tube that entered my nose and around my cheeks and over my ears. I wanted this thing off, I don't need it.
"I have to see Luke," I said sitting up swinging my legs off of the bed.
Calum pulled them back up on the bed, "woah slow down B!" He then stood up to the curtain beside him, quietly pulling it right back. My heart shattered looking at him, his eyes still glued shut, cords and tubes attached to him with his arms laying peacefully by his side. His breathing was slow but steady, I watched his body rise and fall with each breath. It looked like it was an effort just to inhale and exhale.
I whispered his name quietly.
"He's been sleeping for a few hours too so hopefully he should wake up soon," Michael said from behind me."Are you hungry? We can go get you some food?" Ashton asked from the end of the bed, smiling at me.
I was about to speak up but I was cut off, "oh my god yes I'm starving for some pizza," Michael sighed shaking his head.
"Not you ya dick!" Ash laughed flicking his head. "We're gonna grab some stuff for Luke too so if you want anything just say."
"I'm easy, just whatever you guys are having I suppose," I rubbed the fabric of my gown feeling the odd texture of it. They all nodded walking out of the room.
I looked to the ceiling, counting the musty white panels that hung from above listening to the beeping of mine and Luke's monitors. Both of them being out of time to one another. I felt uneasy about being here, I didn't know what it was, weather it'd be Luke, the patients or even just the atmosphere. Something was wrong, or is going to be wrong. I heard a groan come from beside me making my head snap.
"Luke!" I gasped as he turned his face towards me. He was white as a ghost. His lips curled into a wide smile. "Oh my god I'm so sorry I got you into this and you almost di-"
"Blake shut up," he laughed shaking his head in a slow motion. "I shouldn't have been so stupid going through there in the first place." His voice was low and quiet.
"Sorry for laughing at you too when you fell over, I thought you were joking," I remembered, wow I'm an ass.
"I- I don't even think I'd have this leg here if it weren't for you guys," he pointed to his knee which was also bandaged up in a new clean one.
I shrugged like it was nothing, when the boys carried in arms full of food. "Got enough?" I sarcastically said, looking at the heap of food in their arms.
"It was so weird, no one was at the cafeteria so we walked around looking for someone but no one was there." Ashton said oddly, putting a pile of food on one of the hospital trays.
"Sooo you just stole everything?" I asked.
"No- well... Yeah but that's not the point," Michael said putting more food down. "Literally, all the halls were empty, no one was walking around." That made my stomach feel sick, when we came in, weren't there staff everywhere roaming the halls?
"It's only like what? Four O'clock? They couldn't be on any brake or anything," Ashton said eating some chips from a packets. Calum walked around to Luke checking up on him while Michael threw me a sandwich in a plastic container. I said a quiet thanks, I must've strained my voice because it hurts like hell. I ripped open the packet, examining the ham sandwich before taking a bite. I never realised how empty my stomach was.
"They could be on a different level or something." Luke piped up, also eating a sandwich.
"Yeah but like, no one on this floor? Surely there'd be someone," Ashton wiped his mouth with his sleeve, chucking his rubbish in the bin. "Click that red button above your bed and see if anyone will come," he pointed to the small button above my head there if needed of an emergency. We had nothing to loose so I pressed it, a small buzz coming from it. We waited in silence for any sound or movement but nothing happened.
Calum stood up from beside Luke, walking over to the window. It looked as if we were higher than when we first arrived, they must've moved us. His arms rested under the window looking from left to right. He shook his head his hands tapping on the glass. "Guys..." He spun around his face looking concerned. "There's no cars parked out there, nothing."
