I woke up the next morning, exhausted. Everyone had stayed really late last night, and I had got into bed at 1am. I grabbed my phone, and checked the time. It was 11:30am. I got out of bed, and got changed. I walked downstairs, and into the dining room. Everyone else was already at the table, except my father. I took a seat beside Austin.

"Good morning." I said.

"Good morning, sweetie." My mother smiled.

She handed me a plate of bacon, and I took a piece and bit into it. Bacon was my absolute favourite food ever.

"Where's dad?" I asked.

"In the library. The Clave called." My mother replied.

"What happened?" I asked surprisedly.

"The Faeries have been murdering Shadowhunters." She frowned.

"What?" Austin said surprisedly. "Why?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Logan started. "They want to get back at us banishing them. I'm just surprised it's only happening now."

"What is the Clave going to do about it?" I asked.

"I'm not sure." My mother said.

Just then, my father walked into the dining room, looking distressed.

"What did they say?" My mother asked worriedly.

"They've found a pack of Faeries in Brooklyn. Apparently they've been taking refuge in an old abandoned building." My father explained. "The Clave wants a bunch of us to go investigate, and kill them."

"I'll call Simon, and Izzy, and Alec--" My mother started.

"Let us go." I objected.

They both turned to look at me.

"What?" My mother said.

"Let me, Logan, Austin, Alexa, and Max go." I stated.

"Absolutely not." My father said. "It's too dangerous."

"Dad, we'll be fine. There would be five of us." Logan said.

"We could even call Charlotte and Will." Austin added.

"You're not going." My father said. "It's way too dangerous."

"We were doing that same thing at their age, Jace."' My mother pointed out. "With even less people."

"That was different, Clary. We were dealing with one murderer. Not a dozen." My father said.

"Dad, please let us go. We'll be fine." I pleaded.

My father stated at the three of us hardly with his golden eyes, for a moment.

"Fine." He sighed. "You can all go, but call Charlotte and Will, too."

"Yes!" The three of us said in unison, and my parents laughed.

After we had all finished eating breakfast, I drove to Alexa'a house to ask her and Max to come with us. I got out of my car, and knocked on her front door. It was opened by aunt Isabelle. Her long blank hair was pulled up, and she was wearing jeans and a red sweater.

"Scarlett." She smiled.

"Hi aunt Izzy, is Alexa home?" I asked.

"She's in her room." She stepped to the side so I could come in.

I walked inside, and started my journey to Alexa's room.

"Oh, I was just about to call you, Clary." I heard a voice behind me.

I turned, to see uncle Simon. A look surprise crossed his face when he saw that I wasn't my mother, and he smiled.

"Scarlett." He said surprisedly. "You look too much like your mother."

I smiled. "I've been told."

"Alexa's in her room." Uncle Simon smiled, and then walked away.

I finally reached Alexa's room, and I knocked on the door. She opened it a second later, and smiled immediately.

"Hey." She said happily.

"Hey." I smiled, and we walked into her room.

We took a seat on her bed, and she put the book she had been reading on her desk.

"What's up?" Alexa asked.

I quickly explained everything, and she listened silently.

"So, are you in?" I finished.

She smirked. "Of course I am. I'll get Max to come too."

I grinned. "Good. Meet us at the Institute at eight."

"Okay. See you then." Alexa said

"How many Seraph Blades are you taking? Make sure you have a dozen knives, alright? Do you have your witchlights?" My dad fussed.

Logan, Austin, Alexa, Max, Charlotte, Will, and I were all standing at the front doors of the Institute, with my parents. My father wouldn't stop worrying about if we had everything.

"We've got it, dad." Austin assured him.

My mother chuckled. "He's just worried."

"Remember: Faeries can't lie, but they're clever. Don't take anything from them, and don't make any deals with them." My father instructed.

"And make sure you all look out for each other." My mother added.

"We'll be okay, aunt Clary." Alexa flashed her a smile.

My mother reached out and touched her cheek. "I know, Lex."

Alexa was like a second daughter to my parents, and I was like a second daughter to aunt Izzy and uncle Simon. I think they all felt much more protective over us, since we were the only girls. We all then said our goodbyes to my parents, and left. The building the Faeries were hiding in was quite close, so we all decided to walk.

"Do you think there will be a lot of them?" Max asked.

"My dad said there will probably be about a dozen or so." Logan replied.

"We can take them." Will said casually.

We reached the building in no time. It was old and decrepit. It looked as if it had before abandoned for ages. I shuddered a bit. We all quickly put marks on ourselves, and Alexa and I marked each other. Logan took the front, and we all quietly entered the building. We walked up several flights of stairs, until we were in a room.

There was blood on the floor, and it looked as if it had been there for awhile. All the tables were flipped over, and there a few dead bodies scattered about the room. The only light was coming from our witchlights. I swallowed nervously.

"Well, well, well" I heard a voice say. "If isn't the Angels warriors."
