A Thug's Only Love: Chapter 28

~January 25th~
~Saturday~
~Lexis P.O.V.~

The moment she said that, I felt my phone slip through my fingers and crash onto the pristine black tile floor.

That noise when you're hearing momentarily goes out, rang through my ears and had a moment that felt like I wasn't really in my own body.

All we did- all we could do was stare at each other for a good 5-10 minutes. No one flinched, no one dropped their gaze, and no one made even a single sound. It was only complete silence aside from our soft breathing. For a moment I tried to figure out Nelle's expression but she was like a blank canvas just waiting for an expression to paint itself.

I decided to finally break the silence by clearing my throat and pushing all thoughts to the back of my head.

"Nelle? I guess we better go get a test." I said in a slightly shaken voice.

So what were my thoughts before I pushed them away? I'll always welcome a baby of mine into the world no matter what, there is no doubt about it. Remember how I said I was never meant to be in a gang? Well I'll always stay true to that because where most "thugs" would turn the child away and move on; I wouldn't- couldn't ever do that. I'm a little scared, like most people, especially since I'm only 17 but aye, Nelle and I were grown enough to mess around, we gotta learn to be grown enough to handle the outcome.

~Chanelle P.O.V.~

I still remained quiet, mainly because I was still processing this assumption. Lexis and I were safe this time, well actually; every time since the last incident, but I nodded my head and went to the closet. I pulled out a pair of simple black leggings, my black "CALIFORNIA" sweatshirt and my pink bunny slippers. Lexis was already downstairs fiddling with his keys, patiently waiting when I came down the stairs.

"You ready?" He asked as he put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close to his chest. "Nelle, please talk to me? Everything'll be okay, I promise. You got me right here by your side." He kissed the top of my head and let me go; following me out through the door.

"I know I have you; its just still a bit of a shock." We were walking out the door, up till we saw Arlie walking up the drive way.

"Aye, where y'all goin'?" He asked as he pulled me in for a hug and moved onto dapping Lexis.

"Need to go to the store real quick. Nelle could be pregnant again so you should know that whole deal." He said with a little laugh that rolled off his tongue.

"Oh shit. Well with you two always messing around all the damn time I wouldn't be surprised." He said in between his laughs.

"Oh shut up Arlie, you're one to talk." I said as I gently pushed him.

"Don't be hating Nelle, I'm just speaking the truth and keeping it real." He said as he threw his arms up in defense.

"Look man, we're wasting time, come with us since you're already here." Lexis said as he opened the door for me. I got in and pulled my seatbelt across my chest as he closed my door.

Arlie got in the back seat as Lexis walked around and got in his side.

"Arls, where my Nicole at?" Lexis asked as he steadily pulled out of the driveway.

"Heather decided to bring my ass to court for custody of Nicole. She's asking for full custody. So I go back tomorrow to find out what happens." He said with nothing but pure anger in his voice. I didn't even bother with looking in the rear view mirror to see his facial expression. I still never clearly understood his relationship with Heather. All I knew was, she was his first love, mother of Nicole, but he hated her. So I was always curious about why he says as much as he hates her, he'll always love her unconditionally. Seems very confusing to me.

"What the fuck? Why does she want full custody now? Why not just joint custody? Lexis asked with enough confusion for the both of us.

I didnt really feel like this my conversation to put in any words, so I just sat there and listened as Lexis and Arlie discussed this.

"She doesn't have any money, but if she has a child she'll get money from me; court ordered. That's why. She wants child support money that's supposed to be for Nicole, but knowing her, she'll blow it all on dumb shit that has nothing to do with Nicole, because she's a greedy money obsessed whore." Poor Arlie. We all see how much he loves and adores Nicole. I can't imagine how he'll be able to cope if he loses her. This wasn't a 'Arlie gets Nicole Monday through Wednesday' it was a 'Arlie would have to fly to Nevada' to see his daughter since that's where Heather currently lives.

After a long heated discussion, we pulled up to the closest CVS and I walked in. The guys said they wanted to go to In n' Out to pick up a milkshake, so while they were on their way for milkshakes, I headed straight for the isle to get a pregnancy test.

Here we go.

~Lexis P.O.V.~

Arls and I wanted milkshakes so we were determined to get our milkshakes. After we went through the drive through, we drove straight back to the CVS parking lot and waited for Nelle to come back out.

"What if she is pregnant again?" Arlie asked.

"I don't even know. I love the idea of a family but not so young, you know?" If she is pregnant, then I guess this is like our second chance at a baby.

"I know what you mean. All of us love the idea of families because we're one big one but the whole being young with a child is tough. You'll at least have Nelle to help out." He said before he took a sip of his milkshake.

"True, I can't complain there. There's a lot I need to think about if it turns out she really is pregnant." I looked up and saw Nelle come walking out of CVS with the bag in her hands and a look of uneasiness. Nelle hopped into the car.

"Nelle, you straight?" Arlie asked once she hopped in and settled in her seat.

"Yeah, I'm straight." Liar.

We drove home in nothing but pure silence, it's not till now that I noticed we didn't even as much as have on some music. I don't like any kind of car rides without music, it makes life outside the car seem boring, you know? Like the music in my car adds like a kind of theme music for the world, you know what, I just lost my train of thought with that statement. Fuck that statement.

I walked in and went straight to lay on my couch while Nelle jogged upstairs and Arlie sat in the armchair next to my couch.

"She doesn't look all that happy." He said once he slipped off his hat and kicked his feet up on the coffee table.

"I noticed too, I think she's just nervous and scared." Which is completely understandable. I let out a yawn before I made myself more comfortable on the couch. I slowly began to feel my eyelids become heavy and sure enough, sleep was my newest temptation that caressed me into her ways.

~Chanelle P.O.V.~

After a good ten minutes since we came back, I finally had the results in my hand. I took a look before I set the test down and walked out of Lexis and I's bathroom, heading back downstairs.

I saw Lexis was in a deep sleep and couldn't help but feel the corners of my mouth form a smile at the sight I had. Lexis always looked so cute when he was snuggled up on the couch in a deep sleep, I just wanted to cuddle up with him and feel securely wrapped in his arms.

"Arlie." I whispered once I diverted my attention. I didn't want to wake Lexis up and since Arlie was already awake, why not tell him?

I motioned for him to come to the top of the stairs, and he gladly got up and walked up the stairs; taking his sweet time of course.

He followed me back to the master bedroom where I closed the door. I didn't want Lexis to over hear because I wanted to wait for him to wake up. Lexis may be in a deep sleep, but he's known for snapping right out of it if even as much as a pin drops.

"Well?" He asked as he looked at me.

"It came out positive."
