Ashton adjusted his tie as he walked into the elegant ball room. Jason trailing right behind him. The place looked much different from what he had seen that night.

The ballroom was filled with the cream of London. The men were dressed in their finest tux. And the women showcased themselves in elegant ball gowns.

It looked like the Mickelsons have spent their entire fortune for this night. The decor was done fabulously and everything looked perfect.

They say this ball has been the pride of the Mickelsons for generations. And there is no doubt about it. As the proof is right before them.

"No wonder why they call this the Ball of the year." Jason commented as he admired the place.

"We are not here to enjoy Jason." Ashton snapped as he scanned the crowd trying to find the one person his eyes have been begging to see.

But suddenly the entire ballroom fell silent and all eyes were set on the grand staircase.

Ashton felt his heart skip a beat the moment his wondering eyes finally found what they were looking for. Katherine walked down the grand staircase escorted by Nathan.

The emerald green gown she wore hugged her body like a second skin. Her long black hair was pulled up into a elegant bun. And her makeup was done perfectly as usual.

"You look beautiful honey." Alison commented as she took her into a hug.

"Thank you Mom." She replied as she pulled away from her.

"Hello Mrs Mickelson. You look lovely tonight." Nathan commented.

"Oh thank you dear. You don't look bad yourself."

"Where's my favourite girl?" Nicklaus asked as he joined them.

"Right here." Katherine chirped as she hugged him.

"You look beautiful honey."

"Thank you Dad." Katherine gave him a sweet smile.

"Can I have a dance with you?" Nicklaus asked as he offered his hand to daughter.

"Of course." Katherine smiled as she took his offered hand and let her father guide her to the dance floor.

"I'm glad you wore those earings."Nicklaus commented as they waltzed across the dance floor.

"Why wouldn't I wear them Dad? I know how much they mean to you." She gave him a small smile.

"Mind if I steal Katherine for a while?" Nathan interrupted them with a sheepish smile .

"Of course young man. Take care of her." Nicklaus chuckled as he handed his daughter to him.

"You look beautiful Katherine." Nathan commented as they waltzed.

" You know you have told this almost ten times tonight? " Katherine teased playfully.

" yes I do. " he replied with a chuckle.

" So you were intending to tell me something? " she asked as they continued to dance.

" Well, I was wondering if.... " but he paused when his eyes met with certain someone who was shooting daggers at him. His lips curled up into a smirk.

Ashton tightened his grip on the glass in his hands as he watched the mutt touching his Adriana.

" That son of a bitch. " he growled turning a few heads towards him.

" Keep your voice down. There are people around. " Jason hissed making Ashton glare at him.

Jason scanned the crowd for a while. His lips curled up into a smile when his eyes landed on the brunette , who was busy ogling at Nathan.

"Where do you think you are going? " Ashton snapped at his friend as he watched him walk towards some girl.

" You will find out. " with that he walked away.

Ashton took a sip of his champagne as he watched his friend talk / flirt with the brunette. The girl gave him a bright smile and started walking towards the dance floor.

Ashton watched the girl curiously as she interrupt Nathan and Katherine. He watched his Adriana excuse herself and walk towards the bar.

" Going somewhere my love ? " He asked as he blacked her way.

" One, don't call me that. And two, it's none of your business. " she snapped at him.

He chuckled. "It seems like your date ditched you tonight. "

" As I have already told. It's none of your business. "

" Can I have a dance with you my love? "

" Nope. " He ignored her and dragged her back to the dance floor.

" What are you doing? " she hissed as he pulled her into his arms.

" Yes my love? " he asked innocently as they waltzed.

" Why are you here? "

" I was invited darling. " he replied as he studied her stunning face.

" Whatever. " she mumbled to herself.

" Why do I feel like you are falling for me ? "

" Maybe because you are insane. " he chuckled.

" Yes." Katherine immediately covered her mouth making Ashton smirked.

" So you do like me." he commented as he grinned at her. But he immediately stiffened when he watched Alison walk upstairs.

" Sorry my love but I got to go. " with that he almost ran towards the stairs leaving a stunned Katherine behind.

" Where did she go? " Ashton growled at his friend as they looked for Alison. They had been following her for a while and now she had just disappeared.

" She can't just disappear like that." Jason added as they scanned the room.

" And what is she even doing here ? " Ashton replied as he looked at the store room in distaste.

"Maybe wanting to be alone. " A feminine voice spoke up, making both the men turn around.
