"Well.... I don't know if I want to tell you yet" said Ms.Carr. "Tell me what? What is it?" Replied Hun with a scared look on her face. "Well your father and I are moving to the west coast"
"What? Why? What's wrong with here?"
"As much as we love and will miss seeing our kids and family, we figured that moving there would be beneficial for us. It's not like you aren't allowed to invite the family to this house next winter. It's just that we won't be here to invite everyone and keep maintenance."
"Oh" replied Hun. The news hit her like a bag of bricks. Ter walked over to her and gave her a hug. "You will still have me. Although...." said Ter timidly.
"Although what, Ter?" Hun said while looking up at him scared that she would lose another person.
"Nothing. It's no big deal."
"If it's no big deal, then why won't you tell me?"
"I'm not ready to yet. Don't worry about it"
"Mhm" Hun looked at the ground disappointed that she still had unanswered questions. She embraced his hug and after she let go he then plopped down into the couch next to her. After a couple of minutes of trying to soak in all that happened Hun finally got up. She couldn't stand the sound of the crackling fire or the little kids in the background laughing without a care in the world. She slowly strided to the stairs only looking back at Ter once to see his gaze locked on her. She looked back at the dark railing and began to run up it as fast as she could thoughts running through her mind "what does he mean... Although. Why is my family doing this. I am gonna be all alone in this big house. All the memories every nook and cranny that I grew to love and know will no longer be as special!" As that last thought crossed her mind she reached the master bedroom it was the most beautiful room, it was on the fourth floor, technically an attic. Her parents never stayed in it because it was to far away from their kids they felt. But God did Hun love it. She pushed open the door and turned on the light she began to feel the modeling around the walls.
*Meanwhile downstairs*
"If you wanna tell her you better tell her now. You won't get another chance with all this news it's better to lay it on her now." Mr.Carr said quietly. Ter leap to his feet beginning for the stairs.
"Now wait." Mrs.Carr spoke loudly, "if you go up there to loudly you will ruin her adventure she is about to find. We know where she will end up, This old rustic cabin has a couple tricks up its sleeve. Go into the coat closet move all the jackets to the right you will see a small thin door. Open it and follow the stairs and paths. Always make lefts in there to get to the spot she will end up. I can't tell you what will be there because that will ruin the surprise for you too."
Ter cautiously grabbed a flash light and followed their instructions. He made it to the end of the last hallway and opened the door....*back to the master bedroom*
Hun opened the closet to find her moms old wedding dress and her dads old tux. Amazed she turned on the light only to see a small door behind the special clothing, but it was locked. She scoured the room to find the key in the dresser with a note to it, "this may not be Narnia but it's just as good, enjoy." Hun opened the door...
Hun crept into the small passage in the back of the closet. She slowly made her way forward with nothing but her phone flashlight. She didn't expect the passage to be completely black. She crawled through the passage for what seemed like forever until she finally realized she got lost.
"Hello??" she cried for help.
"Hun? Is that you?" replied a voice off in the distance.
Hun felt a warm presence off to her side and quickly turned to shine the light towards it.
"Agh! Damn that light is bright haha," smiled Ter.
"You scared me," Hun said with a sigh of relief.
"I was just trying to come up to your room without making too much noise. I guess this wasn't the easiest way of doing so," Ter said with a soft smile.
"You can be really dumb sometimes. Why didn't you just come up? Why did you have to be so quiet?" she asked.
"Well I didn't wanna spoil the surprise," replied Ter.
"What surprise?"
"You know what I was talking about downstairs? I didn't really wanna have to tell you this, especially in a place like this, but...." Ter's voice trailed off.
"But what?" Hun replied concerned.
Ter tried to swallow his nerves and was just barely able to muster up, "Can we get out of here first?"
"I guess, but I'm kinda lost"
"Don't worry, I know my way out. Follow me."
Hun did exactly that. They ended up back downstairs in the family room. Mrs.Carr gave a surprised look as if asking "what are you guys doing back down here?" and both Hun and Ter made their way up the stairs to the master bedroom.
"Well... As you know, I've been kinda trying not to tell you the news I'm about to cuz I didnt want you getting upset, but... I.... I have to go back to college..." Ter managed to get out before his nerves consumed him.
"Wha-what??" Hun said with tears building up in her eyes.
