A paw prodded Goldpaw's back. Goldpaw looked up to find Bronzepaw standing over her.
"It's time for Ghostpelt's vigil." Bronzepaw whispered. "Did you sleep well?" Goldpaw's throat closed up as she remembered Ghostpelt had died.
"No." Goldpaw mewed shakily. "I didn't sleep at all." The weight on her shoulders was still there.
"Oh." Bronzepaw meowed with sympathy. Goldpaw followed him out into the clearing. And there laid Ghostpelt's body. It looked as if it was actually a spirit who has been dislodged from the ranks of Starclan. Tigerlily, Fawnlake, and Deathsoul were lying beside their father's body. Joysoul was crouched by Ghostpelt's head, stroking his head with her paw and muttering comforting words into his ear. Saphirestar sat beside Joysoul, occasionally grooming Ghostpelt's fur. Darkclaw comforted his sister, Lavenderheart, while Featherspirit pressed her flank against a black tom with a little white spot on his chest. Ravenfeather. They've been mates for about a season, and everyone in the clan have been waiting for an announcement of kits. Bronzepaw signaled Goldpaw to sit beside him. Goldpaw tucked her paws under her chest and pressed her muzzle into Ghostpelt's fur. The scent of herbs and death swamped her nostrils. She was hoping to tasted Ghostpelt's scent, but it was covered
Graypaw managed to squeeze himself beside Goldpaw. His pelt was matted. Goldpaw guessed that he was too sad to even groom himself. Besides, he is kind of a soft-heart.
In the corner of her eye, a grayish silvery cat appeared. Goldpaw turned her head to look the cat dead in the eye. She noticed that Frostpelt was watching the cat, too, along with Darkpaw. But no other cat acknowledged this starry cat's presence. Carefully, the cat made its way to Ghostpelt's body. A faint figure slipped out of Ghostpelt. That cat is fetching Ghostpelt to take him to Starclan! Goldpaw realized. She choked up. Darkpaw's fur bristled with fear. The Starclan cat mumbled something into Ghostpelt's ear and he nodded in response. Then, the two cats faded away. Frostpelt stumbled into her den while Darkpaw sat down, her eyes widened.
A tear squeezed out of Goldpaw's eye and trickled down her cheek. Bronzepaw pressed his flank against hers. Warmth flooded over Goldpaw. The weight on her shouders lifted. And she felt happy. Her eye lids drooped with tiredness. The air was warm, but a soft breeze made the night almost calming. Goldpaw closed her eyes and drifted off into a deep, soothing sleep.

A paw shaking her flank made Goldpaw jump. Her eyes flew open and sunlight stung her eyes. Squinting, she looked up to see Bronzepaw standing over her.
"Good morning!" He began to tease. "What are you, a hibernating rabbit?" Goldpaw purred, thought, she was a bit stiff. As she stretched, she noticed Ghostpelt's body was gone.
"I-I missed the burial!" Goldpaw squeaked.
"It's ok." Bronzepaw soothed her. "You needed that sleep anyway." Goldpaw nodded. When she was around him, she felt happy, and safe. "Let's go training together!"
"Yeah!" Goldpaw agreed. She trotted toward the warriors den. All nests were empty, except one.
"Tigerlily?" Goldpaw whispered.
"Go away, Goldpaw. We can't train today." Tigerlily sniffed.
"But-" Goldpaw argued.
