Prologue:
A full moon lit up a forest. A gentle breeze stirred the stray leaves on the ground. Prey scuffled around in the undergrowth. Moonlight turned everything silver. Everything was silent, except an occasional rustle of the trees in the breeze. A gray tabby she-cat with deep blue eyes cautiously stepped out from a bush. The moonlight turned her fur silver. She looked around.
"Ok, Frostpelt, tell the others it is OK to advance." She mewed.
"Ok, Saphirestar. Are we close? I don't think you should be walking so much since you are-" Frostpelt replied, but was cut off by Saphirestar.
"I'm fine, Frostpelt. Don't worry about me. The kits are alright. And so am I." Saphirestar insisted. Her belly swollen from her kits that would come soon. Frostpelt dipped her head and disappeared back in the bush. A moment later, Frostpelt returned with other cats behind her. A cream colored tom with black stripes stepped out from the cats and trotted toward Saphirestar.
"Are you OK? You look exhausted. We should rest here." The tom whispered in his mate's ear.
"I'm alright, Hawkstripe. I won't stop until we are at our new home!" Saphirestar replied. She stifled a yawn.
Still concerned, Hawkstripe licked her cheek and walked back to the cats. He still kept an eye on Saphirestar, who was giving her chest a few licks. Then, she turned and flicked her tail, signaling the cats to follow. Suddenly, a white tom with a black tail fell into step with Saphirestar.
"Are you sure that this is what Starclan wanted? Wonder if this is a waste? We are all putting our lives in danger." He mewed, too low for the other cats to hear.
"I'm positive, Blacktail. They visited me in a dream. Frostpelt was there too. They said that great danger was coming. We needed to leave that territory. Haven't you noticed the other clans' disappearance? I'm doing what's best for the clan." Saphirestar meowed, sounding determined, yet tired.
"They visited a clan leader, and a medicine cat? What danger was awaiting there, at our old territory?" Blacktail whispered, looking over his shoulder to see if any cat had overheard their conversation.
"That's why I am taking this so seriously!" Saphirestar hissed.
"Sorry, Saphirestar. I'm just worried. There are kits traveling. And queens who are expecting kits!" Blacktail replied, obviously referring to Saphirestar.
"Blacktail, this is my decision. I am not going to wait for the danger, alright? I'm going to save the clan ahead of time. Now please, make sure no cat wonders off." She sighed, flicking her ear toward the cats behind them. Blacktail stood there for a moment, decided whether or not he should argue. But, he padded back to the cats and checked if everyone was with them.
A light breeze ruffled Saphirestar's fur. Is this the right thing to do? She thought, Of course it is! Starclan told me that this is what should happen. They are with us now.
A yowl interrupted her thoughts. She looked over her shoulder to find a ginger queen shielding her kits with her tail. The queen's fur was bristled. A creature stood in front of the queen, snarling. As soon as Saphirestar saw the black and white fur, her fur bristled.
