"The rules are, you give me a topic and I'll choose a subject in it, then you get to ask 20 questions to find out what it is." Skyler suggested.
We both had a free period and were sitting in the waiting room, to 'spend time'. It was Skyler's idea to play 20 questions instead of me asking him outright questions about his life. According to him, I would get to know more about him that way. I agreed of course. If the end product was some researched material for my book I was willing to try it out.
"Okay, so the topic is ...hmmm... your favorite food." I began.
"Yup, I'm ready," he said after some thought.
"1. Is it a sweet food?"
"No"
"2. Is it a savory item?"
"Uhuh..."
"3. Is it pizza?" I asked with a teasing expression.
"Dang, you got it." He said banging the table so loud that a few students, who were actually studying, turned around to look.
"Okay, the next topic is..." I thought of what I could give him, "Personality," I finished dramatically.
"Oooh me like," he replied with a naughty glint in his eyes.
"Okay I'll give you options and you pick one, and I'll finally derive your personality," I explained and he gave me a thumbs up.
"Blue or Red?"
"Blue,"
"Books or Video games?"
"Books"
"Oooh, Chocolate or Cake?"
"Chocolate Cake,"
"Ha-ha, Coldplay or Ac/Dc?"
"Aaargh, I can't choose," He finally answered ruffling his hair.
"Who do you prefer, Girls or Boys?"
"Oooh, you want me to show you?" He answered leaning in closer to me and I pushed him off laughing loudly.
We both fell back into our seats and were laughing so hard that tears were streaming down our faces endlessly. As we were trying to control our laughter, the bell rang, signifying the end of the period. We both got up and began gathering our items.
"Who would've thought, you are quite the funny one," I said squeezing in a giggle in between.
"Well, my humor is my sidekick, its gets me the girls better than anyone else," He said running his hand through his hair.
"See you later then?" I asked him as I was about to leave.
"Later then," He said giving me a mock salute and I giggled back in response.

We didn't get time to hang out throughout the rest of the day. I was busy with Jennifer in the lunch break as she began discussing the latest gossip around school and would get easily pissed if I got up in the middle of her rumor routine.
Skyler didn't turn up either, he was probably busy with his friends, I told myself. That's when I realized; I had never really met his friends or even known them. But then, if I put it that way, he didn't know any of mine either. Whenever I was around him, it felt drama-free. We could talk about anything and everything under the sun. We would joke around and have deep conversations all in one breathe and it wasn't awkward at all.
