"Get out!"
The old lady started hitting her with a stick.
"I could help you, my mom makes herbal medicines."
"No! Get out!" As chronic as it seemed, the lady coughed.
"Okay, bye," smiled Joan.
Heading to the street, someone pulled her hair; it's the blond girl who made a fuss out of her with a group of girls.
"Hey bitch!"
With their baseball bats they started paddling her; blood came rushing from her skin and bruises all over her body.
"Please stop! Please!"
After that she's already at the hospital.
"Andrew what are we going to do?" Crying, her mom was. Never knew what to do about Joan's state. Laid in bed, injured body, and high cost bills.
Her dad comforting her mom, patting her back. All seemed so sad, when someone's hurt, a family is heartbroken. All angels must see this; the tears that run by their cheeks, washing freckles and skins that are so pale. The moment they walked in knees towards the altar, raising their hands. They need mercy! From God... from his words and graces.
Thinking why them?! Thinking why must it be Joan. .. Thinking why they've lacked so much that they can't provide enough for her. It's themselves they're accusing for Joan's state.
But after a week the angels must had seen their situation, or maybe the Lord had heard their prayers. Joan recovered, from a death bed.
It was the happiest days of the life of the Brooks', seeing each other happy again.
'A complete family, where everyone is happy.' That's what we call a perfect family. Her dad Andrew, her mom Janet and of course Joan herself.
She woke up from a long nightmare, an immutable thought caging her soul to an endless darkness; it was the feeling of being alone. She was back but against the light, where shadows stayed only at her back because she found light, a new hope, her family.
