"Mom I'm going to England." I spoke up nervously. "What! No you aren't going anywhere! My Mom snapped. " Mom I need to Ja-" " Is not your responsibility!" She stopped me mid sentence. "Look honey I know we agreed to let you take a year off before you start college, but it wasn't so you could run off to England to chase after some guy you've only known for like three months now! My mom said in an even angrier tone this time. " Well Mom this is my choice! I'm not a child and I can do whatever I want." There was an awkward pause between us for a few minutes, before I decided to speak up again. "Sigh, I'm sorry Mom, I just don't want to lose him.." I said hugging my mom, she hugged me back. "I understand sweetie, I do,but I still don't want you going to England by yourself, James can handle this on his own."
She just doesn't understand does she? "Fine Mom." I said before heading downstairs and out the front door. I need to talk to Cas, maybe she'll understand. I took my phone out my pocket and decided to call her. "Hey bestie! How's living with your prince charming?!" Typical Cas to answer the phone all perky and stuff. "Horrible! I need to talk to you, are you home?" I said dryly. "Wow, wait trouble in paradise? Yeah I'm home." She responded. " Okay I'll be over on five." I said before hanging up.
In now time I was at Cas' front door, where I was greeted by her Mom. "Hailey! I haven't seen in a long while, how are you?" She questioned. "I'm fine Mrs. Hemmings, love the new hair cut by the way." I honestly did. "Thank you Sweetie." She replied with a genuine smile. "Cassidy is up in her room, go ahead." Mrs. Hemmings told me. "Thank you Mrs. H." I said before walking passed her.
I opened Cas' door where I was greeted by a very confused looking a Cas and a mountain of clothes piled up on her bed. "Ahh let me guess you've got a date with Riley later?" I questioned
"It's more like a dinner, with his family, and even though Riley and I have been dating for awhile this is the first time I'm going to really get to meet his parents, and I'm so nervous I'm practically pissing my pants." I laughed as Cas rambled on, it was always funny seeing her get worked up over such small situations. "Relax Cas, they'll love you, I mean come on your Cassidy Emily Hemmings the world's most lovable curly haired unicorn." I stated with a wide grin, causing Cas to giggle. "You're right my little chipmunk." Cas replied "Hey! I called you a unicorn and I get chipmunk? I'm talking it back!" I said while pretending to be mad. Which made Cas crack up even more. "Alright I'm kidding you're more of a squirrel, ha joke! You're my blue eyed unicorn with luscious blonde hair." Cas said sounded very pleased with herself. "Now that's more like it, but look Cas I came here to talk to you." I replied, while trying to find space on her bed so I could sit.*******
I explained the entire situation to Cas, which left her with her mouth half open. "Hello! earth to Cassidy." I repeated this three times before Cas finally started blinking, she was such a drama queen. "Holy shit! James has a father now I did not see this coming at least not until like in five years or something this is crazy what are you going to do?!" Cas said all this in one breath before gasping for air. Like I said such a drama queen.
"Well I've decided to go to England to support him, I just don't know if he has left for England yet, because I haven't spoken to him since our argument." I told her. "Oh my God! Hailey what!? This is crazy, but kind of adventurous, I like it!" Cas exclaimed. "I'm coming!" She added. "What! No Cas, you can't you've got Riley here and your family, and it's almost time to start college." I reminded her. "Come one Hailey it's not like I said I'm moving to England, I just want to be there with you, and school doesn't start until like mid September, I've still got like three weeks. I'll explain everything to my parents, they'll understand, remember they'll all for us traveling to new places, and once I tell Riley about the situation, he'll be all for me going with you, so please just let me come." Cas said, while staring me down with her big hazel eyes that I could just not say no to. "Ugh okay fine, now I just need to talk to James." I replied. "Yay! Now help me pick out an outfit for tonight."
******
I tried calling James but it kept on ringing until it went to voicemail. I'll try one more time. "Hello Hailey, I'm sorry I didn't pick up earlier, I was in the shower." James said eagerly. "It's fine James, I'm just glad I got through to you, because I need to tell you something." I told him, which made him swallow hard enough for me to hear it over the phone. "Relax James, it's nothing bad, I just want to tell you that I've decided to go with you to England." I said, then waited for him to respond. "Oh my God, are you serious Hailey?! This is fantastic news! But are you sure you want to, and will your Mom allow it?" James asked. "Yes I'm sure, in fact Cas is also willing to come along, and my Mom isn't too excited about the idea, but I'm old enough to make my own decisions." I stated dryly. "Wow, well I'm absolutely happy that you've decided to come along, my Mom and Sophie will finally get to meet you, and Katherina...will see that you're the new love of my life." He said.
I smiled a little, because he said I'm the new love of his life, but then the smile faded once I realized that the baby will soon be the newer love in his life, and I'll just be the old love. It was then that I knew what I had to do. "James can I come over tonight?"
