"Ahh hello" I said as I was very unsure about how to even answer the phone. "I know the last thing you want to do is talk to some stranger about your bad night Hailey, but sometimes that's exactly what you need to do." I heard a melodic british voice say from the other end of the phone call. What does he mean ? Does that even make sense? Shrugging I replied " I don't really know what to tell you, but basically I heard my dad telling my mom that he wants to take me away from here because apparently he thinks I'm not ov-...thinks that I'm not happy." I couldn't mention me not being over that incident without him getting curious to know what I wasn't exactly over.
"Oh wow, and I'm guessing you don't want to leave here at all" no shit Sherlock!! "Well Hailey I think you'll just have to convince your dad that you're quite happy here, that way he'll have no choice but to believe that you actually are, and he'll let you be. That actually made sense, the stranger actually suggested something smart, I was always good at convincing my dad into giving me anything I wanted. "You're right, my dad was always very easy to convince, thanks." I was about to say goodbye and hang up when he said, " No problem love, by the way are you busy tomorrow?" I hesitated for about a minute because I didn't want to seem rude after he just suggested a good plan, but I also wasn't about to just start hanging out with this stranger, or was I ? "I-I I don't think I have any plans, but who knows maybe something might come up between now and tomorrow." I heard him let out a light chuckle "Ok Hailey, but just incase you're free, I was wondering if you'd like to go get lunch with me, and maybe you could show me all the good spots around."
"Okay I guess I could do that." "Great, so lunch around 1pm, I could even come pick you up, if you don't mind." He said sounding pleased with himself. "Yeah, I'll text you my address in the morning, I got to go now, bye." I said before hanging up.
"Honey you've got to come out and eat something." I heard my mom say from the other side of my door. She was right, I was starving. I got up, climbed through the window, and opened the door. My mom was standing there smiling because she knew she could always use food to lower me out. "Ha! now let's go eat something." " Wait is dad still down there?" The smile from my mom's face disappeared. "Sigh, yes he is Hailey, he didn't mean to upset you, he just cares about you." "I know mom, I know."
We made our way down to the dining table, where dad was setting up for dinner. I had to blink twice before actually believing what I was seeing, it seemed so long ago since I last saw dad setting up our table for a family dinner. Only person that was missing now was my little brother Parker, he's at summer camp. "Ahh dad I'm sorry for how I acted earlier, I was just frustrated, because I could never think of leaving this neighborhood you know." "It's okay sweetie." He said pulling me in for a kiss on my forehead. "I understand how you feel, but you need to have some fun to lift your spirit, and being here with nothing much to do won't work. That's why I was suggesting to your mom that you could come live with me and Nicole in Chicago" "What! No way dad!" I said pulling back from his hug. " Hailey look you can come back to visit your mom and Cassidy on holidays, but what else is holding you back here? You hardly go out with anyone else besides Cassidy, you don't have a boyfr-..." I heard my dad's voice trail off "Sigh I'm just saying maybe if you came with us you could make a lot of new friends and maybe find someone and be happy like you once were." "I get it dad, you're trying to help because you think I'm still not over it, but I am!! Infact I'm going to hang out with a guy I met today!" I was surprised that I had said that, but this was all in trying to convince my dad that I'm over what happened two years ago and that I don't actually hate every guy in the world.
Both my parents looked at my with surprised yet happy eyes. "You are?!" My mom asked in a happy tone. "Yes I met him today while I was at the mall with Cassidy, he just moved here from England, I'm going to show him around tomorrow. "And you're saying no one had to bribe you to do this honey?" My dad asked with a big grin on his face. "Haha very funny, but no I decided to on my own will, now let's eat, before my stomach digests it's self.
