Cordelia

"Julius!"

I stared at my brother, little signs of panic already starting to thread into my blood.
He stood there, still as a grave in the deserted corridor murmuring something that went along the lines of:
"No...keep your filthy hands off him..."

"Julius! Snap out of it, he's falling!" I cried out,my body ready to catch Aileen as his torso started to slip from Julius's shoulder.
"Shit!" He readjusted Aileen's body with a newfound gentleness.

What did he see that made him change his mind?

"Julius? What did you see?" I asked cautiously.
"I-I" He seemed to be debating with himself.
"Julius, what's wrong?" I was almost afraid to hear the answer. Drawing a deep breath, he seemed to have come to a conclusion.
"He's had a hard time, Cordelia. He's an orphan at an orphanage, and the orphanage obviously managed to deceive the muggle inspectors very well." He muttered the last part more himself.
"What's that suppose to mean?" I demanded. What could have shaken my brother that much?
He bit his lip before speaking in a disgusted tone.
"They abused him. In the orphanage. A five year old boy! Why..." He shook his head in incomprehension.
"They...what?" My voice came out in a hoarse whisper, my hand tingling with the guilt of slapping him .
Julius seemed to regain his composure.
"Cordelia, don't give your trust away that easily. I still don't know who he is, or where he learnt his magic. Just limit your contact with him, got it?"
"Kay" I muttered, then stiffened as a warm furry being rubbed against my leg.
Momo looked at me with the feline version of confusion, glancing at Aileen and me repetitively.
"I don't know what happen to your master, we just found him on the floor..." I told him in an attempt to placate Momo's confusion.
Momo gave a meow, then padded in front of us, as if urging us to move faster.

Julius and I exchanged glances before hurrying after Momo, Aileen's memory weighing heavily upon our minds.

"So we have Mr Gaunt again with Miss Yaxley."

I hid a flinch at the nurse's usage of my last name and the dullness in her voice after seeing Aileen. She floated him to the nearest bed, placing him like a crane carrying a sack of bricks.

"So what happened this time?" The nurse asked sullenly as if she was reading from a cue card.
"I saw someone cast a flipendo jinx which caused Aileen to fall unconscious and hit his head."
Julius answered promptly.
"I see. I'll be back with the supplies-keep an eye on him for me please."

Julius pulled over a hard and uncomfortable chair, grasped Aileen's hand and murmured:
"Legilimens!"

I watched with trepidation, wondering what terrible secrets Julius would uncover next.
What has Aileen gone through that made him into an emotionless, annoying jerk?

Julius's eyes were unseeing, wide with disbelief in them. I heard him mutter a string of unintelligible words, but one word was hissed clearly and with horror.

"Slytherin's Heir..."

Slytherin's Heir?
Was Aileen Slytherin's Heir?
I thought the Dark Lord was the Heir of Slytherin!?
Didn't he open the Chamber of Secrets all those years ago?
How can he be the heir of Slytherin unless he's the Dark Lord's son- which was a ludicrous idea.

A faint, green apparition that took the form of a green skull with a snake protruding from his mouth glowed from inside of him, illuminating his face.
