Cordelia

Little munchkin.
Cordelia didn't know what the word meant.
All she knew was the warm glow in her heart as she recalled the weird muggle expression Aileen called her.

"What's a munchkin?" She asked over dinner that night.
"A munchkin? A small cute person.
My grandma calls me a munchkin at times, even though I'm taller than her" Juliet replied ruefully.

He called me cute. Does he think that I'm cute?

"Why are your cheeks red?" Asked Rosaline, suddenly noticing the stop signs on Cordelia's cheeks.
"Oh- it's quite hot in here, isn't it? Phew!" Cordelia started to fan herself as Juliet and Rosaline exchanged worried glances.
"Cordelia, it's like ten degrees here. How in Merlin's beard are you feeling hot?" Juliet demanded, eying Cordelia's flustered self.
"Er-" Cordelia opened her mouth to offer some rambling, nonsense reasons when she was thankfully saved by someone calling her name.

"Cordelia!"

Or not.

Cordelia turned with a sinking heart to face her brother, anticipating a scolding from Julius.
Julius swung himself between Cordelia and Rosaline (who immediately turned a beet red that Cordelia would be proud of).

"Hey...I'm not hungry so I'm just going to-omph!"
"Sit down" Julius said lazily. As Cordelia mentally lamented about her sore butt and arms, she took notice of Rosaline growing flustered by the second.
"You are not turning into Aileen" he said forcefully, watching her closely.

Cordelia blinked in shock. Was that what got his wand in a knot?

"Why would she-" Juliet began before Cordelia interrupted her.
"Julius, we haven't even thought about drinking the potion yet, we still have to finish stewing the lace wings and-"
"I've talked to Professor Nova, and after some persuasion she agreed it would be inappropriate for you to turn into the opposite sex." Julius declared in a no nonsense voice.

Cue the giggling from Juliet and Rosaline.

"Ok...I haven't even thought about that stage so..." Cordelia began, her cheeks hot again from the 's word'.
"Well thank Merlin you have me. Got to go, Gregory scheduled a bloody Quidditch training after dinner, that prick." Julius stood up before delivering his final words.
"I know that you and that pr-Gaunt boy have an extension joint, but for Merlin's sake limit your contact around him!" Julius stridded off before Cordelia could think of a response.
"What was that all about?" Juliet demanded.
"My brother didn't want me to turn into Aileen using the Polyjuice potion. I haven't even thought about who's hair I'm using. Are you guys done? I'm finished." Cordelia pushed her clean plate away and waited for her friends to finish eating.
****
The next day, Cordelia found herself waiting for Aileen at the Ravenclaw Tower entrance.
Her soft hazel eyes were clouded as she mulled over the events of yesterday.

Did I push too hard? She asked herself as she recalled the vulnerable look in Aileen's mismatched eyes after playing his piece.

What if he had flashbacks as he was playing? Can't people go mad when they remember terrible memories? Post-traumatic something?
If he plays, will it trigger his memories?

Will he go mad?
Oh my god, what if he did go mad?
Will it still matter to keep an eye on him if he goes mad?

"Hey!"
Cordelia snapped out of her rambling thoughts with a shriek and a jump as Aileen came running towards her.

Aileen

"Sorry about that! I hope that you haven't been waiting for long."
She gave a little jerk and a squeak before replying.
"No, I haven't been waiting long. Oh, here's your jersey-thanks for that." She lowered her voice to a disgruntled mutter.
"Pervert"
"Right, so are we going to do this audition thing or not?" I decided to ignore Cordelia's remark and accepted my Jersey.

Why am I even here? I questioned myself.

After that little piano session that we had yesterday, I went back to The Room Of Requirements.
I had planned to research more about father's diary, but the stupid room must have read my subconscious because when I opened the door I found a big piano right next to a selection of books about dark magic.
After four hours of trying to find out how the diary suddenly disappeared and reappeared in different places, and failing miserably at it- I threw the darn thing against the wall and started to practice for the audition.

"Here we are..." Cordelia's slightly concerned voice shook me out of my thoughts about yesterday's occurrences.

What the- Did I just space out while standing here? I thought, as I suddenly noticed Cordelia looking at me, a hint of worry starting to show on her face- a response to my obvious disorientation.

"Are you ok? We can postpone this if you're-"
"I'm fine...I was just lost in thoughts, that's all." I tried to reassure her with a weak smile.

If I'm lucky this Li Yao will hate the way I play and I'll be free to- Who am I kidding? I interrupted my own rambling thoughts as Cordelia pushed the double doors to the Great Hall open.
I'm really good at whatever I set my mind into, and I couldn't play a wrong note even if my life depended on it, With those last thoughts I walked in after Cordelia and closed the door shut behind us.
