Friendships Are Weird But We Need Them

As we are walking, I notice the scenery around us, prettier than the grudge at the orphanage. The grass was green, instead of yellow green, and for some reason, the sky and sun seemed brighter. There's just something in the air that changed, maybe it's because I'm not cooped up indoors, or maybe it's because I can finally relax for once. Either or, it's a nice change.

"Hey." Joe interrupts my thoughts, snapping me back to reality. "We should get to know each other better."

"Yeah that's a great idea." I reply, wanting to get to know him better myself.

"Okay first question... uh... favorite ... color." I stop in my path and burst out laughing. "What did I say?" He looks dead serious in confusion.

"Out of all the things you could ask, you ask what my favorite color is." I state once I'm able to catch my breath.

"Well sooooorrrrry." He gives me hand and picks up his speed, causing me to run up to him.

"Wait up, you're walking too fast." Suddenly he stops in his tracks, waiting a moment before speaking.

"I'm apparently too mainstream for you. So, I decided to help change your mind by running when other people are walking. That's right, hardcore hipster!" He shoots his hands up and does this weird circle dance.

"Dude, what are you doing?"

"I have no clue!" Yet he's still doing it.

"Give it a rest will you!"

"Not a chance. You don't control me. I'm a-" He stops, and holds his head. "Okay maybe that wasn't the smartest idea, the dizziness is real." I laugh and pat his fro. "Hahaha that doesn't help."

"Never said it would now did I?" He glares and me and I smile. Somehow, we manage to reach the ice cream place, and we get there before the others. After a couple minutes of silence, I decide to answer the initial question, "Blue."

"Hm?"

"Blue, that's my favorite color." He smiles and gives me a side hug.

"Mine too." I smile at the fact that we have something in common. I didn't think that this would be a bad idea, but I wasn't confident on it being fantastic either. I don't know why really, I guess it's just superstition.

Joe and I see the rest of the guys walk up, whispering about something, but it quickly ceases once they catch up to us. "Sorry we took so long, I lost a few things and I needed their help finding it. " Andy states as we head inside. It's a cozy place, it's really crowded, and I can see why.

"Do you guys want to go somewhere else, we'll be here forever and I can't can't wait forever." Pete complains.

"Yeah sure forever boy." Dad replies.

"I said I can't forever Stumpy, pay attention." He claps his hands in Dad's face and we all laugh, including them.

"Okay, okay, no need to get all...that." We walk out of the place, and wonder around town for a bit. There wasn't much talking, well directed towards me anyways. It was mostly music stuff for the new album, which was hard to follow for some reason. So instead I decided to entertain myself using my imagination. This is basically just me saying random stuff all at once and seeing which ones are the best, yeah I'm not the cleverest.

What if a unicorn decided that grass was poison and that it couldn't eat it anymore, so they grew really long necks, got rid of their horns, and became giraffes?

"What the...?" Everyone stops and stares at me.

"What?" I stare at them and they stare at me back. "Was it something that I...oh..." I realize that I must of said the unicorn thing out loud.

"Yeah." Pete pauses for a second. "That couldn't have happened because if they thought that grass was poison, they would die."

"Poison to their insides." He opens his mouth, but quickly closes it, returning to the conversations that he was having. After a few more minutes of walking, we come across a park. There's a swing set and a woodland next to it.

"Can we go over there?" I ask pointing over to the area.

"Yeah sure." They reply in unison and we start heading over.

I go on the swings, and Dad takes the one next to me, while the others stand around talking. "Hello."

"Hi." I begin to do this half pump half still thing in the swings, putting my head down.

"You okay?" He asks concernedly, I'm not too sure why though.

"Yeah. I think the question is if you are." He chuckles.

"I was afraid you were going to say that." He stops the swing. "I'm normally not like this, and I won't be like this for long. But just, I mean, I just hope this doesn't like affect anything you know?"

"Of course it doesn't." I stop him before he could continue, because honestly he didn't need to explain himself at all.

"Really, holy smokes that's great. Really, thank you. Tomorrow, just you and me okay?" The smile on his face is worth 1,000 words.

"Sounds good." We get off the swings and hug. Although it's an odd feeling to be actually hugging someone, it's nice. Ever since my family was killed, I thought no one would want me again, that I would become the crazy dog lady on the block. (Dogs rule though guys). Every part of me believed that there was no more hope, that everything was gone.

"Thank you." I whisper into his shoulder.

"You're welcome...but what for?"

"For being here."

Okay so it has been a while since I updated, and I have a goodish reason for it. Homework is a bully and should not be allowed to exist. Also, robotics club, but that's awesome so yeah. Anyways...I am so sorry and hopefully it won't take this long again to update the chapter. Also, I apologize if there are a lot of mistakes I didn't really go over this chapter.
