As soon as the car starts moving, fear consumes me. I haven't stepped foot in a car after the accident. My grip tightens on the closest thing next to me. "Ow!" my head jerks to see Pete, trying to pull away from my grip. "Sorry." My voice cracks as I grip my wrist. "Everything okay?" he asks me with a concerned look in his eyes. Honestly, I'm not okay, I'm terrified out of my mind. But, do I really want to them? I know I'm going to have to eventually, just not now.
"Yeah, everything's fine." I put on a fake smile, that nobody believes. I quickly put up a thumbs up, which causes them to laugh. Phew.
"So, Amber, you'll be living with me. Is that okay?" Patrick says from the drivers seat. "Yeah that's fine." I could feel him smile, and we pull up at his house, and it was huge. We get out of the car, backpack in hand. "That's all you brought?" Joe asks while walking up the driveway. "Yeah." Joe makes a weird face, and walks towards the house.
Patrick opens up the house, and it's beautiful. When you walk in, you see a living room with a few couches and a TV pinned up on a wall. To the right of that, is the kitchen. The kitchen is the place of food heaven, and I could tell that there is the possibility for a lot of food to be in that kitchen. There is a stair case to the right, and what looks to be about five or six doors. "Wow." Is all that I can manage to say. They laugh and push me upstairs. It's strange being pushed up the stairs by one person, let alone by four people. Andy opens a door and they push me in there. I hear the door slam with them not in the door. I start to pound on the from the inside desperately trying to open it. "Let me out!" all there was is laughter from them. I screamed again, but to no avail. "Look around the room first, then we'll let you out."
Reluctantly, I turn around and I'm in a room with a twin bed in one corner, a desk shoved in the opposite corner, with pale green walls. They recreated my room at the orphanage, that is so sweet of them. I throw my backpack on the bed and run out. The problem is, I forgot the door was closed, and ran into it. "Ow." The door opens and they're faces are priceless. "Next time, if you hear running footsteps, open the door." I pull myself up and hug Patrick, or Dad.
I whisper thank you in his ear, and he smiles. How did he get it to look exactly like the room in the orphanage? The world may never know.
We make our way downstairs and they tell me to sit on the couch. Joe sits next to me with a bowl of popcorn. Pete grabs the remote and sits next to Joe. The phone rings and Patrick goes to answer it, while Andy takes a seat next to Pete. "Movie time!" Pete yells, scrolling through Netflix. "Oh my God! They have The Smurfs!" I tell a bit too loudly. They stare at me as I slowly curl into a ball. Pete presses on the movie, and my eyes instantly are glued to the television. I'm obsessed the Smurfs, it's a problem.
Patrick comes down halfway through the movie, and takes a seat next to me. "Really? The Smurfs?" he starts to laugh, and I shove popcorn in my mouth. "Don't judge me."
It's 10:15 when the movie is over, and I'm half a sleep on the couch. I didn't feel like moving, so I decided to fully fall asleep there. While doing so, the events of what happened today started to flow through my mind. Today was my birthday, I got to meet Fall Out Boy, and then got adopted by Patrick Stump. This is the best day of my life.
