I wake up in a room that looked exactly like the orphanage. Wait a minute...I'm not...oh yeah, never mind. I get up and open the door slowly making my way downstairs. There's a slight chatter coming from the kitchen, but it ceases as soon as they hear my foot steps. Dang it feet, why do you have to be so loud? I try to stay out of the kitchen to see if they would continue talking. "We know you're out there Amber." Dang it!
I changed my voice to the one voice that I could think of. "No. This is Fred! You know, the guy from YouTube, I won't tell anyone anything so you can just keep talking." They're end of the conversation went dead, then an explosion of laughter. Surprisingly, I was able to contain my laughter. Knowing it's no use, I go into the kitchen and take a seat. They look at me a bit strangely, probably because of what happened last night. It's not that big of a deal, I'll get over it, eventually.
"So, Amber, today you'll be meeting Elisa. She's coming home today from her mothers." Patrick says in a hopeful voice. This is so exciting, I get to meet a my mother and there's another girl! "What time will she be here?" I needed to make sure that I had enough time to shower and all that stuff before she got here. "In 2 hours." I nod and run upstairs. I heard Andy mutter something, but I was too excited and focused on meeting Elisa to care.
I go in the shower, do all the shower stuff, and go to my closet to pick out some clothes. I pick on a pair of jeans and a Panic! At The Disco shirt. Quickly putting on my clothes, I blow dry my hair, which takes quite a while to do. Eventually, I finish and make my way downstairs. "You do you realize that you took 30 minutes to blow dry your hair right?" Pete asks kind of confused.
"My hair is long, and when I fully blow dry it, it takes a while." I just explain it simply and quickly, considering he'll never fully understand the pain of having long hair. He just smirks and turns on the television. "So are you exiting to see your mom?" He asks me. I was taken aback on how he said mom. It is weird calling someone besides my mom, mom. Just a feeling I'm going to either have to get used or ignore. "Yeah." Is all I can say, for some reason there's a lump in my throat.
What if she wants to be called mom? What if she won't accept me? What if she doesn't want to be called mom, and doesn't care about me at all? What if the only way for her to accept me is to call her mom?
So many questions that I don't have time to self answer. Everything little thing is gonna be alright now. Dang it, now that song is stuck in my head. Everything's going to be fine, stop worrying. "Um Amber, are you alright?" A voice asks me and snaps me out of my trance. Apparently, they were starring at me. "Yeah just nervous, that's all." Nervous was an understatement. Patrick hugs me. "Don't worry kid." I smile and so does he.
When we break our hug, the doorbell rings. Well, time to meet Elisa. Joe gets the door, while I stand next to Patrick. After a few minutes of hearing mumbles, Joe comes in with Elisa, and she was beautiful. Her long brown hair, with brown eyes, no wonder why Patrick loves her. She walks up to Patrick and I smiling. "Hi, Elisa. You must be Amber." She puts out her hand for a handshake, and I shake it. After our little awkwardness, she goes and hugs Patrick. He hugs her back, but seems a little confused. Why he's confused about his wife hugging him, is beyond me.
She ask to talk to Patrick in private, leaving Joe, Andy, Pete, and I in the kitchen. They all seem a bit weirded out as well. If they are trying to hide it, they're doing a very poor job. Joe was looking upset and worried, Pete noticed this as well, and the two went to talk I private. Andy I were standing there, until the talking between Patrick and Elisa turned to yelling. Taken aback, we both jumped. Shortly after, Elisa ran upstairs and came back down with suit cases fully packed, and left.
My first thought was to go help Patrick, so I ran to where he was. I knocked on the door to no answer. "Patrick, I know you're in there." There was a slight mumble, and I tried to open the door. It was unlocked, and in the corner, was Patrick crying. I go over to him and hug him. "It's going to be okay." He smiles and starts crying.
"I just don't understand." He cries, and everyone came upstairs.
"Patrick, what happened?" Pete asks while making his way over to us. There was a long pause. "She said she didn't love me anymore."
