Chapter 4 - Part 2

"Okay, so I have brought you all here today so I could-would you please quit jumping up and down?!" She says exasperatedly.

"I'msorryit'sjustI'msoexcitedcauseDanishereandIthoughthewasdeadbuthe'saliveandnotdeadand-"

"WOULD YOU JUST BE QUIET?!?!?!" Chelsea yells and covers Phil's mouth.

"Now, as I was saying, I brought all of you here today to start working." Dan groans.

"Except you." she says and points to me. "Um..." I stutter worriedly. "Because we need to work on that arm of yours."

"What's wrong with her arm?" Dan asks. "Well it has some slight damage done to it, so we were going to make it artificial."

"Um, could you, like, not make my whole arm artificial and just one part of it artificial?" I ask.

"I'm afraid that's not how it works." she replies. "But I guess we could just fix your injury and not make your arm artificial, if that's what you want." I nod. "Yes, please."

Suddenly, Dan gently grabs my arm and stares at it. "Nothing looks wrong to me." he says. My face turns red.

"Anyway, you will all begin your first job now. Chloe, you might even be able to help with this one." the woman says. I give her a small smile. "Okay. What's the job?"

"It's quite easy, actually. All you really have to do is clean stuff." she replies. "Sounds easy enough." Chelsea says. "Oh, and by the way, you can call me Jen." the woman (who's name is Jen I guess) says. She hands us all cloths and cleaning liquid. "You should probably start over there." she says and points to a table that looks very dusty. We all walk over to it.

I flop over on the couch and sigh.

"Well that answered my question." Dan says.

"What did?" I ask.

"If we were the only ones. But I guess we're not, which is a huge relief." I nod. "Yeah. They all seem really nice." I say. I'm about to say something else when I hear a knock on the door. I raise an eyebrow. "Who was that?" I ask. "I don't know. I'll go check it out." I frown and bite my lip as the memory of Kayla comes back to me. Luckily, Dan seems to be completely oblivious as he opens the door.

"Your food." a robot says and hands 2 trays to Dan. He walks back inside with them. "Dinner, I guess." he says. "I bet it's some weird alien food, like some weird color and shape or somethi-" he glares down at the food. "Are you f*cking kidding me?"

All that's on the trays are a few pieces of chicken, a roll, some mixed vegetable, and a glass of water.

"Fine then, don't even bother to be a little bit fancy." Dan mutters. I smirk. "It's better than nothing, right?" I say. Dan sighs. "I guess."
