Chapter 2 - Part 1

"Hello. I am model 924773. I will be your guide during the awakening process."

I slowly open my eyes to hear a female voice with a British accent. 

"If you have any questions, please tap the console to your right." She pauses as I struggle to tap the console. "Oh, my mistake. You can't move yet."

My eyes widen in fear. I'm PARALYZED?!?!?!

"Please do not be alarmed. This will wear off soon." she says, as if replying to my thoughts. "You have been in a cryogenic sleep for 4 years. Your planet was completely destroyed. And, as you are already in space, you are saved, thanks to our technology. We brought you here after we found you lying on the ground."

So I'm 20 now? I think as I realize I was 16 when...IT happened. My planet...was destroyed? I tear up a little at this.

"I have been told that emotions such as frustration, sadness, and regret could be going through you right now. If that is true, please, do not be alarmed. I am here to help." she says and even smiles a little. "I am going to guide you and show you how to wake up properly from the cryogenic sleep so that you do not permanently damage yourself. "Your vessel is currently in storage on our planet, Delta 2."

Delta 2? Vessel? 

Almost as if she was reading my mind, she says, "Delta 2 is a colonized planet that is mostly made up of artificial intelligence such as myself and our creators. Soon, it will only be artificial intelligence."

My eyes widen in fear. Wait, what?!

"As you are aware, you are still in your cryogenic tank." she says calmly and watches as I observe the 'vessel' that I seem to be almost trapped in. "This is due to possible infections and viruses you may carry. We will soon be sure if you have any. If you do, you will be disposed of."

D-disposed of??? I think and gulp.

"You are lying horizontally in a small case. It may feel a little cramped, but you have been here for 4 years, so you should be used to it. We are going to make sure that all of your body parts are working properly. First of all, close your eyes so you are completely focusing on your body."

I take a deep breath and close my eyes, but hear shuffling and metal-on-metal type noises.

"Please ignore any outside noises, as these are just our scavenger robots looking for important or useful things from your vessel."

Is this lady a mind reader???

"Now, let's begin." she says. "Wiggle your toes." She pauses and I start to gain feeling in my feet. I wiggle my toes. "Next, I want you to imagine a breeze flowing through your body, giving you back feeling in all of your joints. Soon enough, I'm able to move my arms and legs around. "You may open your eyes."

I open my eyes.

"I have a few questions for you before you are allowed to work and move outside of your tank." she says. She pauses. "I have just received word that you are infection-free, so once the questionaire is finished, you will be allowed on our planet as a worker." 

Sounds so nice. I think (note the sarcasm). 

"Are you ready for your questions?" she asks. I nod. "Then I'll begin."
