After we finished eating (which didn't take very long as we didn't have much food), we sat in silence for a second. 

Or at least what I thought was silence.

I opened my mouth to say something as I turned to face Dan, but quickly forgot what I was going to say as I saw a tear fall out of his eye. 

"Are you okay??" I ask worriedly.

"Not really." he replies shakily. "My family...my friends...they're all gone...well, not Phil, but that's it..."

I give him a sympathetic look and put a hand on his shoulder. "I-it's okay..." I say quietly. He stares at the ground, biting his lip. 

"But you know it's really not." he says, looking straight into my eyes. This catches me off guard. 

He's right... I think. 

"I-I..." I stutter. 

I was silent for a second, then out of nowhere, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

It's gone.

Everything is gone.

Planet Earth is gone.

Gone.

[Author's Note: I know this is super short but I couldn't make it too long cause I kinda needed to end the chapter. So yeah xD]
